The userpic selection bug has been fixed! Your choice of a non-default userpic while commenting should now be posted correctly, rather than your default userpic overriding your selection.
Clicking the quick reply link (both on the post and for this comment) doesn't move the text cursor to the body field anymore, which broke at the same time as the icon thing.
Oh, and tab order is still messed up: there's the old bug of the tab order being userpic dropdown -> the search button at the very top of the page -> comment subject field -> comment body field, but the new one that broke with the userpic/focus update is that you can't tab directly from the body field to the 'post comment' button.
Thanks! It was especially bad when I was making a sympathetic comment to a friend who had suffered a loss ... and it reverted to my usual smiling icon, and I had the choice of either leaving it there or correcting it, and having her get two notifications.
It's been about a week for me and I'd like an extension on my paid account. Money is tight and this stuff matters. I mean, it's pretty much why a lot of us get a paid account.
