Will switching help with being able to comment using IE or is that a completely different issue. I am still waiting for a response from LJ Support about this.

I had the same problem with commenting and I submitted the same (useless) support ticket. Try doing a "hard refresh" on your browser (on IE it's CTRL+F5). If that doesn't help, try deleting your temporary Internet files. That finally worked for me. The next step would have been deleting cookies, but I'm glad I didn't have to go that far.

EDIT: I completely missed that you mentioned having IE. :)

So I'm guessing that all tabs except for google search should be closed. Will doing a "hard refresh" do any nasty things?

That worked for everything except being able to upload to my scrapbook.

I had a bunch of tabs open and I think I closed my LJ tabs after deleting the temporary Internet files and after I opened them again, I could comment. I'm not aware of any nasty side effects from a "hard refresh". It basically tells the browser to get new versions of all files from the server instead of using older versions that are cached on the computer.

I don't really use my scrapbook, so I'm not sure if I had issues with it, but I tried uploading something to it just now and it looks like it's not working for me either. :/

Good job, I never thought I would see the day! That said, switching to beta server resulted in persistent 503 error until I deleted beta cookies in both Chrome and Firefox.
