I've been thinking about some things, may or may not go through with all of them.
The definitely
- If Pokemon makes it as a category at
ljvgia, it WILL NOT make it as a category here. Having two of the same category going at the same time is really pointless, the same people will win both. Since Pokemon is primarily a game, I'm letting the VG Awards take it if it makes it into their top count.
- Please keep in mind that our contest does not allow fanart icons when we collect samples. I'm thinking waaaay ahead, but I thought I would get that out there now. I'm not going to get into the argument of whether or not fanart icons are legitimate, good, bad, whatever. There's enough drama about that. But from 2006, we have disallowed fanart icons, so even though there have been more of them in the recent year, this rule is not being changed. So when you are nominating series, try not to nominate ones that have mostly fanart icons being made, because when it comes time to nominate iconists, you'll be out of luck when all of them just icon fanart. :|
- Don't nominate series just for the hell of it or just because you like a series. If that series doesn't have at least 3-4 good iconists to compete, it will be REALLY POINTLESS if that series makes it in. This happened last year when certain series got nominated, so I'm trying to just err plan ahead?
- "Biggest Trend-follower" will be dropped.
The maybe
- I'm thinking of perhaps just accepting all series that get 20+ noms rather than just the top 15. And then any series that doesn't get at least 3 official iconist nominations will simply be dropped?
- If a mangaka/creator's main series gets nom'ed, their nom as a mangaka/creator will be dropped. EXAMPLE: Miwa Shirou mostly just does DOGS, right? So if DOGS gets nominated, I think having Miwa Shirou as a category would be pointless since it's just the same iconists being nominated again.
- What if I only accept samples that were made in 2007/2008? I mean, this is a yearly contest. What's the point in nominating people who made icons for that fandom back in 2006 and haven't done any since?
- Getting rid of the "Animated icons" category? It's true that not many have been made in recent years. Even last year, it was the same people that got nom'ed as in 2006, hrmm.
The "just plain no"
- Guys, I'm not getting rid of the "Manga Coloring" category. As I've said before, "Best Manga" is an overall category. "Colored" and "Manga coloring" are two sub-categories of "Best Manga", basically. There are people that are good in one and not the other (LIKE ME HAHAHalskdjad). That's why those sub-categories exist. The "Best Manga" category exists for people who are presumably good at BOTH. I think the distinction between the three is very clear, and I'm not going to take any of the three down.

Oh right, I will be recruiting mods. It just wasn't on the top of my to-do list since it's just series/creators noms right now and that doesn't take 5 moderators to do. XD
If there's anybody who's interested in helping out, let me know here. However, I will have to have at least heard of you and I will ask around to see how trustworthy you are. I don't want any funny business, after all, these awards are my baby. :|
Various duties will include:
- Tallying. :D MY FAVORITE. Not.
- Gathering icon samples after iconist noms are through in March. HAHA ANOTHER FAVORITE OF MINE. :|
- Deleting spam/misplaced comments. It happens.
- Dealing with drama-llamas.
I should warn you, don't accept this job just because you want to look cool and be in charge of something. These awards take a lot of effort. Maybe it's just because I did it mostly on my own the past two years, but I spent countless hours tallying, finding samples, coding the HTML pages, etc. So don't volunteer if you don't have free time. If you say you want to help and then tell me later you can't help because you have final exams or something, I will be very put out.

Comments? Questions? I accept Pocky, too. :'D
