As everyone seems to be very worried about their Livejournals at the moment I've made a beta release of my Livejournal backup tool available, which should, hopefully, resolve a longstanding connection problem, and tidies up the downloaded results - rather than many files, you only end up with one backup file, which is a SQLite database ( Read more... )

Hmmmm. When I try to use both the beta and the original I can an "invalid user name". I notice that when I type the first letter of my username it requires me to press the key twice ... perhaps this is the problem? Help!

Strange! What operating system do you use, and what keyboard language do you have installed by default?

I use Windows XP. Um, as far as keyboard language I dunno what you mean. English? Sorry to be so dumb!

Problem with Beta virtual January 7 2009, 02:12:25 UTC
Just tried the beta and it failed with this following error:

Error executing SQL "INSERT INTO PROPERTIES(ITEMID, NAME, VALUE) VALUES (171, 'current_music', ' ')" : unrecognized token: "'".

Not clear from the error what the exact problem is or even which post is causing problems.

Hello, thank you for this very nice and useful program. I have a question though: my saved posts stop in May 2007, and don't continue further. I tried it twice and it did the same. Can you help?

I'm not sure what would cause that. Is there one post which in that month which is huge or in some other way unusual?

There doesn't seem to be anything particularly unusual in that month, apart that I made posts on almost everyday (though I did that often at that time). It only loads 1498 entries, though I have 2004 in total. Is it because I have too many entries?

Odd thing: if I do the back-up by months with the HTML, it stops on May 3, with the 1162th post; if I do the back-up by year with the HTML, it loads all the 1498 entries, and goes as far as November 6 still of 2007. However, this last one entry (November 6) is the #1497 while my postdated entry (set in '2014' for my F-lock) is the #1498. Could it be because of the postdated entry...?

(I was using the previous version, because the other one you posted, the 2.0, stopped loading when it was half-way in my comments, and the program froze.)

Hey I have this too. On my journal it's fine but on my girlfriends it's missing the last 40 entries or so. Nothing unusual about the post that comes after the last post. She does have a future dated f-lock and that has come through fine.

We're gonna test this tomorrow and delete/redate the F-lock entry and see if that kicks everything into gear. If this works, any plans to fix this so she can use it as a daily backup tool?

Thanks
