I got John Naka's Bonsai Techniques books for Christmas, and I've started reading the first one. You are going about this all the right way. You are reading the best book out there and trying to buy quality from the beginning. You can get tools at a lot of places. I actually started sellin gstuff on my site http://www.orlandobonsai.com

However I have also made purchases from www.dallasbonsai.com and www.nwbonsai.com and had great experiences with both.

Good Luck!!!

That's true but the biggest problem that I have had since I started years ago is filtering out the . . . well . . .crappy tools from the decent ones. A lot of times you can't really tell until you get it in your hands and use it. That's always a problem with catalog or online ordering. I usually think it's better to go with a "line" of tools or a particular company that you know and trust. Unfortunately that's a hit and miss process in the beginning and only comes with hard earned experience or the advice of others (usually the way to go). I hear Joshua Roth is pretty decent but opinions seem to vary on tools. What companies do you guys like (not suppliers, I mean actual tool companies)?
