Hello, I'm Susan. I'm new to the community and to bonsai care.

I recently bought my first bonsai tree. Being clueless as I am, I really don't know what kind it is. I bought it at Lowe's (it wasn't just some cheapo deal in a plastic tray, though. I think this is a Junuperus horisontalis or Junuperus procumbens. This coniferous tree doesn't suffer from insects because its bark and wood contains resin.

It's a juniper of some sort, it's hard to tell exactly what kind because most of the foliage is juvenile. Probably a procumbens, though ( ... )

As the previous poster mentionned:

If you want it to live, you will need to remove the cheap (probably glued-on) moss, and repot it in good soil. You can keep the little decoration, but the moss needs to go.

Also mentionned, it's a juniper, and they need to live outdoors. They CAN live indoors, but they won't stay healthy, and they will have about a 30% survival rate.

They should be either planted outdoors, or put in a "cold frame" for the winter. For the rest of the year they'd do fine on a balcony or patio?
