Wicca is a religon

Hi sweatydog here, I thought I’d outline a bit about Wicca as a full religion and what it means to me. I’m not going to tell anyone not to judge us or accept us without knowing the facts. What I am going to do is give you my form of and understanding of Wicca.

wow!

awesome job, the only thing i could think to add would be about the sabbats. the way i understand them is that they are more like touchstones to keep us connected to our environment and experience of the seasons than specific meaning that holds true for everyone.

like christmas is always supposed to mean jesus was born but since we have a "nature based" religion our holidays often change meanings or even dates based on our environment. therefore our sabbats can be as personalized as we want them.

of course what i just said wasn't worded as nicely as everything you just wrote, but i'm sure you get what i'm saying.

Thanks! Yeah I don't know as much as I should about the sabbats my family usually just did the solstices and equinoxes and we'd just have bonfires nothing fancy.

Plus I just wanted to get the basics down for a passing by stander and get the point across that it has nothing to do with anything evil or satanic etc.

honestly, i've read a couple of "101" books and i remember a little about like the cycle of the God's life and the relationship btw the God and Goddess... but i don't really follow that myself. for me, it's about connecting with the seasons as they play out in my area. i would imagine that pagans in other areas would adapt the sabbats to their own needs as well.

and a bonfire sounds like a sweet way to celebrate, i tend to use candles and they aren't quite as dramatic.

Bonfires are like regular deals in my home town. My family would have bonfires for every occasion and during the summer my friends would have them almost every night.

I miss California beaches.
