To piggyback off of the videos below, Peter Gandy and Timothy Freke (two of the authorities in the five-part video) also have a book out called "The Jesus Mysteries: Was the 'Original Jesus' a Pagan God?" oooh, I've read "The Laughing Jesus" by them. I appreciate the info they offer, but they're not my favorite. They *rarely* cite any of their work (even when they make some pretty out-there claims, they don't let you know where they got that information which leaves the reader just taking them at face value) and seem to use more emotional tactics to convert your opinion to theirs than anything else.

But that's just my opinion.

*nod* I started to read "Jesus and the Lost Goddess" but I just didn't like it as much as I did "Mysteries". The latter had a lot of supporting evidence, a sound premise, reasoning I could follow and about 60 pages of it was nothing but citations for their sources. "Lost Goddess" was good, I guess, in its own right, the bit of it that I read. It was more a Gnostic how-to than anything, though, so it just lost me after a while.

Cool! I love learning about the different ideas and philosophies of who Jesus was! It really helps me get a better perspective of him. :)
