Magickal Tools

One of the sections I'm working on right now in my book deals with magickal tool construction, and I was wondering how much (if any) experience you all have with constructing your own magickal tools. While the book is focused on the two I assign more masculine properties (the wand and the athame), I'm interested in hearing both about those and ( Read more... )

For my Rose Pentacle class I give out rose quartz with a gold pentacle etched and painted on them. It's quite beautiful. I enjoy working with rose quartz energy.

I think that's a really good summary. I've never actually carved out a wand, I generally find desirable sticks of the size and shape I want to work with. I've been meaning to get around to looking up what type of tree it is I keep using before my next Wand Making class, but I've been using the same tree coincidentally for several wands.

My athame is still incomplete for the time being. I'd like to buy one for general use, but the solely ritual one is going to be made out of bone and an apache tear arrowhead.

Thanks, I strive to be bitchin' in all my witchin'.

There's going to be a Shiva mantra engraved/burned in it too. It's for more destructive work....

guys, i almost never use tools.

am i wierd?

i do have a couple of items, like an athame, a marble soap dish that i use so that things like acorns stay put instead of rolling off my altar or sometimes i use it for salt, and a clay bowl for water. do tarot cards count?

but other than the cards, i tend to use no more props for my worship than incense. i might skip that if it didn't smell so nice and put me in the right mood.

That's not weird at all. I didn't really start using tools until about a year ago. Also, I kept reading "marble dish soap" and kept trying to figure out how dish soap was going to keep things together...then I remembered that I'm slightly lysdexic (or "deluxe" as I like to say) and finally read "soap dish."

Acorns on the altar? Working with the Fey?

i like to collect things that catch my eye on walks and put them on my altar for a while before ginving them back.

i have a lot of respect for the fey but i don't purposely work with them.
