This is similar to the question that was asked asked, but is there a way to add a see also statement to our lj foaf files? If not, I would like to suggest this fuctionality.
There is: by setting the "External FOAF URL" in your user preferences, your FOAF file is mostly replaced by a pointer, via rdfs:seeAlso, to a different file.
The last time I did that, that is what it did; replaced the list I have on lj with the external FOAF file, instead of adding the seeAlso element, like I want.
Yes, that's what it does. There's no way to add an additional seeAlso other than to "turn off" your local FOAF data. This is mostly because options confuse people, and are more storage, and in general every one you add is an implementation headache, so I was trying to keep the developers implementation headaches to a minimum.
If you have some kind of hosting space, you can combine two files together yourself, and point to that. If you don't have any hosting space, or aren't willing to set that up, there's not a lot that can be done. Adding the extra option would be worth it to some people, but on the whole, it's more headache than it's worth.
I see. I didn't realize it would be so difficult to implement, or that it would take that much storage space; I know LJ is huge though. I would find this feature very useful, but I do have the hosting space; I just didn't want to go that route, but I may. Thanks for the input.
