So how many people had abortion-related propositions on their state ballots and what were the results?

It looks like our prop 4 (parental notification for unemancipated minors seeking abortions) didn't pass, which is a relief.

According to CNN:
Iniative 11 in South Dakota (which would ban all abortion after 20 weeks except in cases of rape or incest or if the mother's health/life was at risk) got voted down 55% to 45%
Amendment 48 in Colorado (which would define human life as starting at the moment of conception, effectively banning all abortion) also got voted down, by a much higher margin of 73% to 27%.

I'm so relieved about prop 4. The proponents have already said they're going to try AGAIN.

I know, that was the one I worried the most about, especially since it kinda flew under the radar with all the massive publicity on prop 8.

they're never going to stop until we have a stronger SCOTUS ruling. never. this is why they exist. honestly, in some ways, they seem to like to be behind. I think it's better for their fundraising.

We had a "human dignity" amendment on the ballot here in CO which declared that an egg becomes a "person" at the moment of fertilization. Although it didn't mention abortion, the intent was obvious... it'd become illegal (as would IVF, hormonal contraceptives, etc).

Even pro-life people thought it was nuts. It would have been struck down (one presumes) on appeal because of its unconstitutional intrusion into one's personal life. Fortunately it got bonged: 75% to 25%.

i was sweating prop 4 out here, just because prop 8 was getting so many right wingers we have that usually sit out elections because we're "blue" here, out to vote.

this is the third time in like what six years we've vote on this? ugh.

I think maybe third time in four years? I know the last two elections a similar prop was on the ballot
