I did say I was prepared to keep the original meetup group going and advertise the Sunday meetings there - we certainly don't need two London groups.

I'm in London on Tuesday, are you around in the evening?

From the first LJ meeting I attended, it was clear that everyone seemed to want the meetings moved to Sunday. You weren't there. Because Carla took the initiative, we had our meeting.

If the meetup group concept is going to work, it has to try to be the meeting its members want. If we only have one group, and it is to be successful, it has to be flexible. If we have only your group, would that be possible?

I think Sundays are a better day - since I'm normally in Cardiff it's not possible for me to get to most Tuesday evening meetings.

Are you at the Sunday meeting? If so I might see you there.

re the group, I am happy for as many meetings to be set up as people want - just let me know the details and I'll post them. The original group has more members so it /ought/ to generate the most atandees.

Peace

If its an insignificant amount, and Meetup.com provide a significant service for that money, then I'd be willing to agree to their terms. But when I joined LJ meetup, I had 10 other MeetUp groups on my list. Most of them small. I was planning to try them all.

Last time I checked, there were 0 Yes and 1 Maybe for attendance tonight. If I want to sit in a cafe on my own, I won't be paying Meetup.com for the privilege.

Quick comparison:
LJ meetup: 200 members, typical attendance 3, cost $3/attendee?
ETW event: 2000 members, typical attendance 100, free.

Thanks Tom.

I've listed my Farscape Meetup on your forum. :)
