“Tessa,” Richie asked, puzzled, “what’s all this?”
The table was crammed full with every dish imaginable: turkey, stuffing, rolls, salads of every kind... Richie had never seen so much food.
“Thanksgiving dinner, of course,” Tessa told him as she finished setting the table. The crystal sparkled, the silver shone.
“Thanksgiving?”
“Yes. Sit down; Duncan will be in here any moment.”
Richie sat, but the confused look remained on his face. It was weird enough that a Frenchwoman and a centuries-old Scotsman were celebrating Thanksgiving, but...
Tessa saw it. “Richie, what’s wrong?”
After a moment he answered. “Isn’t Thanksgiving next Thursday?”
