Love the TRS-80 icon, I remember those.

I am primarily running Windows Vista, which by default includes the .NET Framework 3.0, and LJ-Sec won't install. Is there any way to run it on a Vista system?

Vista doesn't come with the 1.1 framework -- you have to download it. Or, you can wait until I run a test to see whether it will work on .NET 2.0 and/or 3.0. If it does (it should), I'll release a compile in a couple of days that can utilize either version.

The latest build should be able to run on 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0.

Hmm, some questions:

A) Are you logged in as a computer administrator, or are you logged in as a user with more limited rights?

B) Are you installing LJ-Sec to a networked location?

C) What version of Internet Explorer is installed?

Is there any way of you to send a screenshot of the error? (It will have an exception code that maybe will give me more information.) You can send it to support@mp3vcr.com or better yet post it here.

I've recently downloaded ljsec (on monday). I'm trying to delete my entries in bulk, but I keep getting an error message. I try deleting just one entry and even tried just changing the security of an entry, but I kept getting an error message.

"Post Delete FAILED! Error message:Client error:Can't edit post from requested journal"

What seems to be the problem?
I have IE v6.0, and .NET Framework Version 2.0,
OS: Windows XP, Hardware: 90Mhz CPU or higher; 64MB RAM or higher.

thanks.

That's very strange. Can you delete a single entry through the LJ website?

If you can, try Journal - Refresh All Items and then try deleting. I'm thinking that the IDs may have gotten out of whack.

If deleting a post through the LJ website also gives the same error, then there is some sort of problem on Livejournal's end.

You can edit the stored settings in the registry to fix this:

A) Start -> Run
B) Type REGEDIT.EXE
C) Open the HKEY_LOCAL_SETTINGS folder
D) Open the SOFTWARE folder
E) Open the LJ-Sec folder

I would first turn off auto-login:
A) Double click the Autologin text
B) Change the value to "False" (no quotes)

You can also edit the interface login. If you are using Livejournal, LJLoginURL should be http://www.livejournal.com/interface/flat

If that doesn't work, you can delete the entire LJ-Sec folder. This reinitializes the program to its default settings.

Hope this helps.

Question: Is there any way for a community moderator to migrate a community to another site using LJ-Sec? I'd like to see all my communities backed up off-site from LJ.

Not at this time, unfortunately.

LJ-Archive will let you back up the community, including comments. Unfortunately, it doesn't let you upload the posts elsewhere, but it does let you back them up. At least you could then export the old posts and make them available as a downloadable file (HTML, PDF, etc.) in the new community. Not perfect, but better than nothing - especially for RPG communities.

The LJ-Archive sourceforge project appears to be pretty much dead but the latest version can be found in this thread in ljarchive.

Thanks! Converting the posts to a downloadable file seems like a good compromise. ^_^
