LJ-Sec is a bulk journal entry management tool. It allows you to bulk change post security, delete posts, find and replace items, and repost journal entries to other LJ-compatible servers. LJ-Sec has been updated to version 0.60 today.

This adds several features:

  • Community management. Finally, you can use this to back up and repost communities ( Read more... )

    If you click the "details" button when the error is thrown, you'll get a bunch of text. This text would give me more information on what is happening. You can post it here or mail it to electrodevo@gmail.com.

    Doesn't help me much. :)

    I will say that the beginning of the program doesn't do much more than read the registry. So maybe something in the registry is screwing the program up. This is how to initialize the registry:

    A) Start -> Run
    B) Type "regedit", hit enter
    C) Open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder
    D) Open the SOFTWARE folder
    E) Delete the LJ-Sec folder.

    The latest version uses configuration files instead of the registry, but it still tries to read the old configuration if it exists.

    just a quick question! If I want to repost journal entries to a journal on a server that isn't listed on the dropdown list, how can I add that in?

    While you can't add servers to the drop down list itself, you should be able to type in the server name without selecting anything from the drop down.

    Whoops, you are right. I released version 0.61 today which should unlock that combo box.

    An alternative to installing a new version is to use the configuration manager to change the server you are reposting to. This can be found in the login screen (Configurations -> Configuration Manager). It should work in 0.60 as well.

    I'm trying to duplicate a community of mine to InsaneJournal, but I keep getting an error message that it won't let me backdate entries to a non-personal journal. Is this unique to IJ or a mistake I've made somehow?

    That sounds like something on InsaneJournal's end. In order to move posts from one community to another server, the receiving server has to allow backdated posts for communities. If they don't, there's not a lot I or any other program can do.

    OK thanks! I'll check it out at that end! (This is an awesome program, btw!)
