    Hi. I don't know if this is the right place for issues, but I've had a problem with lj-sec for some time and don't know where to find answers!
    I've used it (version 0.72) in vista pro for a pair of months when one day it stopped working. I try to open it and windows say "LJ-SEC stopped working". I've uninstalled and re-installed it many times but nothing works!Today I tried to install versione 0.74, I've got the program installed but when I tried to open it the problem is always the same :( is there a solution? Thanks!

    It's probably a Windows Vista 64-bit machine, which at this time often requires the following actions:

  • Go to the executable's install directory (typically c:\Program Files (x86)\LJ-SecInstall\)
  • Right click on LJ-Sec.exe.
  • Click properties. Go to the Compatibility tab.
  • Select "Run this program as an administrator."

    Hopefully I can fix the need to do this in future releases.

    I don't know if it's been reported but deleting entries gives you an error 500 message even when the entry gets deleted anyway. It started for me on Feb. 21st with Semagic but I get the same problem with LJ-sec (except that some entries don't get deleted on the first/second/etc. try). Another developer reported it but Support said they couldn't help.

    The 500 Internal Error is a generic message that basically says that something within the website server went wrong. I think that this is most likely a Livejournal script problem or database issue; at the very least, they would be the only ones with access to the internal server logs that could diagnose the issue.

    I noticed that the developer that reported that the error later disappeared -- did you notice this as well?

    That's what I thought too but they seem unwilling to do that or to say that the problem's on their end.

    No, I still get the error.

    Hi. I have the 32-bit version of Vista and it just won't let me install. There's no option to run the installation as admin, so I've run out of possible solutions. I get to the "hit the next button to install" window and when I do, it gives me the "the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation" error message. Any ideas how I can make it work?
    Thanks. =)

    Try right clicking on the "LJ_Sec_0.74.msi" file after you download it, then run as an administrator.

    As an alternative, go into the users control panel and turn off the user account control temporarily.

    After installing, you may have to go to the c:\Program Files\LJ-SecInstall\ folder, right-click LJ-Sec.exe, and click "run as an administrator" for that file as well.
