I have downloaded and installed the latest version, but can not get it to run. When it goes out to try to sync to my account I get an error that says: SYNCHRONIZATION FAILED! Network timeout or no connection!

I have a lot of changes I need to manage this weekend. Is there a fix for this problem?

This means that for some reason Livejournal's not liking the sync request it's getting. My first suggestion would be to try "Journal / Refresh ALL items".

I did try that. I got the same error.

Hmm. Next thing I would try is to remove all files in the "C:\Program Files\LJ-SecInstall\Journals\" directory, and then re-run the program.

So, when I tried one more time this morning, I got the following error message ( ... )

I'm beginning to think that this is a threading type issue, which some others have reported before. That shouldn't happen unless some of the web downloads are coming back incomplete.

Try this executable and see if there are any improvements. Hopefully it's just that, elsewise I'll have to dig some more...

I ran this executable, and got the same error as the first one I reported.

OK, I recompiled the executable.

With this executable, there should be a log written with all of the LJ journal communication. (c:\Program Files\LJ-SecInstall\ljcom.log)

I'm hoping that with this log, I can figure out what is going on.

If you can *email* this log file to me at support@mp3vcr.com, I'd appreciate it. :)

Commentalter is a property Livejournal uses to keep track of the last time comments were changed for a particular post. Dreamwidth may not have that particular property.

Maybe doing a "journal / refresh all items" when logged on to Dreamwidth will resolve the problem, in case there's some Livejournal metadata that's hanging around the cached journal file for some reason.

You're not the only one that's reported a problem.

Try running in administrator mode, as Livejournal writes stuff to the program folder (which XP doesn't mind, and Windows 7 does).

I've heard of other errors that are not fixed by administrator mode, but haven't had a chance to diagnose them yet... I don't have a Windows 7 64 bit box at home. (That's going to change in about a week; I'll run a test to see how LJ-Sec reacts on that box then.)

An unhandled exception ocurred and the application is shutting down.
Exception = System.TypeInitializationException
Message = The type initializer for 'LJ_Sec.Config' threw an exception.
FullText = System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'LJ_Sec.Config' threw an exception. ---> System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.

at LJ_Sec.Config..ctor()
at LJ_Sec.Config..cctor()
--- End of inner exception stack trace ---
at LJ_Sec.Login..ctore(Boolean noautologin)
at LJ_Sec.Program.Main()

This is the message that has popped up every time I try to run the program, no matter how many times I re-install it.

I know someone had this problem with the previous version, but I just thought I'd let you know that it's STILL unresolved in the newer one. At least, not for my laptop.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

After backing them up, try to delete the configuration files stored in C:\Program Files\LJ-SecInstall\Configurations\. I think someone had this error when a configuration file corrupted.
