Okay, got a response: she said the one she usually makes involves making a meringue and then adding butter to it, but she suggested this one for super simple butter cream frosting ( her personal recipe is to die for, though, with the meringue mixed in. YUM! ).
Then she said this other recipe is for that hard white frosting you find on a lot of pound cakes, danishes, and cookies, and it's an industry standard:
