Seattle donut revue

My previous writings on Portland donuts, plus a bad bout of insomnia, left me both in the mode to try out all the Seattle donut places on my radar and suddenly awake at an hour when they would still have stock left. It was a great success, although left me a not very productive remainder of the day, unsurprisingly ( Read more... )

As a Seattle donut lover, I found this post very informative. Alas the best donuts in Seattle were at the Westernco on 15th Avenue NW and 75th. I ate donuts there since I was a small child. I think their secret was that they put a touch of nutmeg in the cake donuts, but their apple fritters were amazing too. They closed down last year, and now there's nothing but a hole in the ground there. I've been trying to find another place like that. I love Top Pot, but I feel like they're trying too hard to make donuts fancy, when they should be cheap.

Also, hello. Susan Dennis is always writing about you, so I thought I'd check out your journal.

Yay! I'm happy it will provide some guidance. :D

I was so upset when I found out the Seattle locations of Westernco closed. I've not been out to the Bellevue or Renton ones, but they are on the list!

Also, please forgive me if I don't "friend" you right away here. I've been away from this for so long I've forgotten exactly what implies for my journal. Glad you're here!

That's cool. I have a few people I follow who don't follow me. I just enjoy reading other people's journals from Seattle. It's interesting seeing other impression of this city.

Oh, apple fritters deserve a post of their own, but they probably won't get one. They have never impressed me or inspired my passion. I think I've only had bad fritters for the vast majority of my life. That or I just don't like what most people consider a good one. It's only been very recently that I've found some I like! The salted caramel apple fritter (which thankfully was not very salty) at Rodeo was easily their best offering, and Larsen's Bakery also had a notably good one. Where can I go to get the best apple fritter in Seattle?
