I HAVE A JOB!!!!!!

I have been offered the job as Outreach Director at Crane Point (in the Keys!!). I'll be doing fundraising, event planning, PR and membership for this nature preserve and making alot more than I was counting on!!!

More details to come, I am so excited tho!!!!!!!

My new office will be in the woods...how cool is that?www.

Congratulations! I am so excited for you. It sounds like a wonderful opportunity.

I haven't found a solid job yet...now I can pump you for advice and hopefully you'll have time and desire to answer me!

A lot of the job listings with the word 'director' or 'coordinator' scare me because I feel like I'm unqualified to do them...like they should be for people with experience. I am so nervous about everything. Do you feel prepared having just gotten out of school? Is there time to learn on the job?

Will you be moving to the Keys? How far from Miami? I live in South Florida.

I was a little scared of director and coordinator job titles too, I think it really depends on the size of the company though. Crane Point has like 10 staff members and the previous director had no PR experience. I really do feel prepared for the job because when I was interviewing I found myself thinking about 'what is the niche market' or 'how can I evaluate what the past woman did' I think UF did a good job of preparing us :)

My bf and I will be moving to the Keys at the end of July :) I guess its a couple hours from Miami cause we'll be in the Middle Keys, don't have an apartment yet tho, we're working on that!

Thank you so much for your response. I do feel as if UF prepared us well. I do feel way ahead of PR students from other schools. I get frustrated when I see sub-par people land decent PR jobs simply because they know someone. But I will press on. :)

I've actually NEVER been down to the Keys. It's very exciting that you two are moving together. If only I could convince my boyfriend to move with me to NYC or L.A. or somewhere new and exciting! An adventure!
