Spoilers: The fact that Darren Criss is on the show?
Disclaimer: Sadly, I don't own either Chris or Darren. As much as I would love to. I also don't own Glee. Or the Golden Globes.
Summary: Darren sees Chris' tweet and decides to do some tackling of his own.
@chriscolfer: OMGG! I can't believe it! Am I awake? OUCH! Yes, I'm awake! I'm going to obnoxiously tackle everyone I see today!
Darren chuckled to himself after reading Chris’ tweet. Obnoxiously tackle? He’d pay to see that. Unfortunately, he wasn’t scheduled to work that day. Although, now that he thought about it, that gave him the perfect opportunity to do his own obnoxious tackling. He quickly put his laptop away and grabbed his blue Dalton hoodie on his way out the door.
Once in the car he texted Ryan.
I have to tackle him. Please tell me you understand this?
Ryan texted back moments later and Darren grinned at the words on his iPhone.
At the auditorium. Hurry if you want to get it on tape. - RM
He got to the auditorium in record time and threw his car into the first empty spot he saw before practically sprinting towards the door. He found a crowd of people standing outside and worked his way through them before cautiously opening the door and looking around inside. He spotted Jane and Matt, but saw no sign of his Chris. Jane spotted him and beckoned him over to them, a confused expression on her face.
She grabbed him in a hug before questioning him.
“What are you doing here?”
He smiled and fished his phone out of his pocket to show Jane the tweet. Understanding flashed in her eyes and she exchanged a devious look with Matt before shoving him towards the seats and telling him to stay low, that they’d get him closer to Chris without being seen. Gosh, he loved these people. As they got closer to the where Chris stood, being interviewed by some guy in an insanely bright orange shirt, he took a chance and peeked over the wall separating him from everyone else and managed to catch Lea’s eyes. He pointed at Chris and she nodded, a grin spreading across her face before she turned away to smother her laughter.
They were about as close as they could get now without it looking suspicious, and as Chris turned to cough for a minute, Matt caught the reporter’s attention and pointed at Darren while mouthing “tackle.” The reporter immediately understood and flashed him a thumb’s up before going back to the interview.
“This is it,” Darren thought. “The scene is set. Just have to act it out now.” He slowly slunk out from his hiding position and managed to get behind Chris without him noticing. Lowering his stance a little bit, he took a deep breath before letting out a loud cry and grabbing Chris around his waist, lifting him up and spinning.
“OH MY GOD! Darren! Put me down!” Chris shrieked and Darren couldn’t help it, he collapsed in a fit of laughter, pulling Chris down with him. He could hear the laughter around him, but focused instead on Chris who was trying his best to look affronted. It wasn’t working out too well since he couldn’t stop smiling.
“Now that’s what I call a tackle,” said Lea.
“I freaking hate you, Criss. What are you even doing here?”
Shoving Chris off of him, Darren got to his feet before helping up his friend.
“I saw your tweet. Had to take advantage of it.”
Chris hit him.
“I said that I was going to be tackling people, not be tackled.”
“Who cares. That was totally awesome.”
“Oh, just shut up.”
