LKH has problems taking any responsibility even for the very normal desire to avoid winter. It must be all Gen's fault. Otherwise people might think LKH is succumbing to the incredibly common American Midwestern middle-aged tendency to get fed up with winter. "Normal" or "middle-aged": both anathema to her.
Where is she that it's that hot and humid in December? It gets way worse in St. Louis in the summer than in the North American subtropics in the dry season. Also, a whole half hour a day for the dog -- wow. That's what, two shortish walks a day? I can't imagine that being enough for any dog.
I understand needing to write for one's emotional health. I also understand the need for a routine to help write, and I understand writer's block (way too well). But jeezum crow, woman. You have an utterly perfect set-up. Your one chore seems to be walking the dog, you're physically healthy, you have plenty of money, you definitely have a room of your own -- stop whining and write already!
"...but then she was raised in the south where winter is a mild dip in temperature, but nothing more inconvenient than that."
I call bullshit on that right now, it does get cold in the south, it can snow down here depending on where you are. It can rain like a fucking bitch and then you get to deal with flooding depending on how fast it comes down or ice. At least that's how it it where I am. Mild dip in temperature my ass...
