My English is far from perfect but generally I don't have any problems reading the recaps of NBA games. But this phrase has completely stumped me - I didn't have even the slightest idea what does it refer to. Anyone? (without Google, of course :) Hint - the phrase has absolutely no relation to basketball

Про Миннестоу, кочено, пришлось подглядеть. В результате стало понятно, что много шаров (мячей :)) загнали в сетку самым виртуозным образом. Но причем тут English?! Ни хрена не ясно (частица "не" в данном случае пишется раздельно)

To put some English on a billiard ball means to give it an appropriate spin. So, I think, the meaning of the phrase is that the shooter put a lot of underspin on the basketball when shooting it.
Not sure, though, who Minnesota Fats is. Most likely, a nickname for some famous pool player. But, perhaps, somebody else, who spins something, a disk-jockey, perhaps? :)

Ну смотрел пару раз биллиард на ESPN, big deal... Они в основном стройных женщин показывают, никаких толстяков из Миннесоты там нет и в помине, как бы они хорошо не играли. :)
