Twenty Facts about Cedric Diggory
1. Cedric was born on May 10, 1976, which happened to be Mother’s Day that year, at 4:48 in the morning. His mother always says he was the best Mother’s Day present she ever got. His full name is Cedric Jason Diggory.
2. Contrary to popular belief, Cedric is not an only child. He has an older brother, and a younger sister.
3. Cedric’s older brother, Lucas Michael Diggory was sorted into Hufflepuff. He was 6 years older than Cedric and was killed by Death Eaters during the beginnings of the Second War.
4. They didn’t speak of him because he spent most of his time in Spain as a Healer, and they didn’t see him so much, not because he was estranged from the family.
5. Cedric’s younger sister is Katherine Melanie Diggory. She is 2 years younger than him, and very quiet. She was sorted into Hufflepuff as well, but keeps quiet.
6. Cedric remembers very well his family’s trip to Disney World (his parents wanted their children exposed to the Muggle World). He threw up the first time on Space Mountain, but he loves it now, and goes back occasionally. He loved Mickey Mouse, however.
7. When he went to MGM Studios and saw the big ‘magician’s’ hat, he wondered how Muggles had ever conjured a hat that big.
8. He also laughed hysterically, wondering who had told Muggles that a wizard (or witch)’s hat is blue, and covered with giant white stars.
9. He was equally close to both Lucas & Katherine (Katy) as he calls her. They rarely fought, and always got along well.
10. Katy declined to go the Quidditch World Cup with her father and Cedric because she is afraid of heights. Lucas was away and couldn’t get off work to come.
11. Cedric and his siblings grew up with a black cat named Midnight that Cedric desperately wanted to take to Hogwarts with him. His parents gave him an owl instead, which he named Anna.
12. Lucas was a prefect when Cedric came to Hogwarts, and Cedric worried about living up to his brother’s reputation from the very beginning.
13. Cedric’s favorite color is aquamarine, like the color of the ocean. He has always loved to swim.
14. Cedric has two favorite subjects, Charms & Muggle Studies. His best subject, however, is Transfiguration.
15. In his fifth year, he worried tremendously about playing Harry Potter in their Quidditch match, and berates himself for not noticing Harry falling to the dementors while he was busy catching the Snitch.
16. After the Gryffindor team left Harry’s hospital room, Cedric went up and apologized to him. Harry however does not remember this, as he was sleeping at the time.
17. Even at Hogwarts, if Katy ever became scared during the night, she would go to sleep in Cedric’s bed. All 3 siblings had done this for years, because they knew they would be safe with each other. Cedric would hold her protectively and she would snuggle into him. If it was at home with their brother, Lucas would be in the middle, shifting during the night, holding either his brother or sister at different points.
18. Cedric didn’t really want to enter the Triwizard Tournament, he did it because he didn’t think he’d ever get picked. He was very pleased when Lucas was able to get off work to see the Final Task.
19. Like Hermione & Harry, Cedric shares a strong dislike of Rita Skeeter.
20. Right before Cedric died, his thoughts were of how much he would miss Lucas, Katherine & his parents. He also wished Harry luck in battling Voldemort.
