Last night's election results were great almost across the board. Obama won and the Democrats added four Senate seats. Governor Gregoire was reelected. It looks like Seattle will expand Sound Transit light rail to the Eastside, north to Snohomish County, and almost all the way to Pierce County. People can now choose death with dignity. Sigh. I voted for Reed. I'm bummed about Prop 8.

Anyway, progress is never quick enough for me because I'm a progressive.

Uh, I don't understand #2. You say it's not the fault of *new* black voters and that's probably true, but not really the point. Certainly the black and Latino communities as a whole (and particularly the churches) bear a lot of responsibility for Prop 8.

There seems to be some movement to absolve the black community of responsiblity for Prop 8 since it's much more palatable to blame the Mormons. Personally I think there is plenty of blame to go around. The fact is that I don't expect much from the Mormons, they've never pretended to care about civil rights.
