What an amazing post, Leigh! I think I might have to make "relentless pursuit" my motto for the summer/until I graduate.
It sounds incredibly challenging and rewarding for you down in Houston. I just helped my neighbor do case studies for special ed kids in Detroit and it really opened my eyes to the totally unique problems teachers face in urban areas. How old are your kids? I am so glad you came back to the flock (ie LJ) so I could read this!!
I was just getting down about have 10 pages of tech reports due twice a week along with two other classes, but now I've got my steam back.
hey good to communicate via lj w/ you again! my kids are 7th graders and 14 or 15 years old. yuck, i could never do summer school. good luck with that!!!
i'm really glad you posted this!! i was interested to know how tfa worked and what you were going to be doing. i'm in asheville now but i haven't started my job yet...although i do have a "blog" other than lj (since i haven't used this in forever) to keep my homies updated on my life...since i'm so bad at keeping in touch with people. anyway, glad that there are plenty of kids who make you smile to make up for the kids (and lessons) that make you want to rip your hair out :) keep me posted when you get your classroom in denver!
