Day 4: Matching the Profile
Summary: There are certain recognizable signs in the life of a serial killer than point to what they could be.

The first time I killed someone, it was an accident. He was irritating me and there just happened to be that ledge there and, well, not my fault. They ruled it an accident and I was never implicated in any way.

I was twelve. Now, twenty-some years later, I look back on that time with shame. It was so impulsive, imprecise. There had been no planning, no organization, no arrangement. It had all been so aesthetically unpleasant.

I pretend it wasn't my first. My real first, as far as anyone in the know is concerned, was that senator from the city. That one had taken careful work, precise timing, and it had worked out perfectly. It was the first time my accomplishment was spread across the front page and for a debut, I couldn't ask for anything better.

It's a bit short and I don't quite feel like it's complete, but I guess I'll come back to it later.
