One of the things I really like to put in onigiri is canned tuna with some soy sauce or mayo. It's kind of like having a little tuna salad inside.
I had to have Megann teach me how to make onigiri (like with the vinegar and stuff) and one of the first ones I had was with umeboshi (pickled plum)...it was so nasty that I threw up. Unless you're feeling really masochistic, I wouldn't try that one.
It's a tastey little snack of rice! It's basically rice tightly packed into the shape of a triangle. A lot of times you can find something inside the rice triangle, like fish or pickles and sometimes too they are wrapped up in nori (edible seaweed) Yesterday I made onigiri and inside I put cucumber and creamcheese and when I ate it at lunch I wrapped it with nori. SOooooooo GOOD! Wrapping it in nori helps to keep it's shape and less mess! So yum!
