Don't be too impressed; it should have taken maybe a week. I had to call tech support many times, and it was a real "learning experience". My former webhost was Covad, and I paid them to register my domain back in 2003. I never realized that Covad isn't a domain registrar; they registered my domain with Network Solutions, then charged me $20/year to renew it and paid Network Solutions. My new webhost, StartLogic, offers free domain registration with their hosting package, but the domain registrar they use is Tucows, so I had to transfer my domain registration from Network Solutions to Tucows, then change the nameservers so when you type in http://llandryn.net it points to Startlogic servers instead of Covad servers. I was so clueless about all this; it took about 5 weeks, and at least 5 calls to tech support, just to do that much.
