MERLIN: I'M GONNA KILL ARTHUR! / LEON: OH ALL RIGHT THEN!

This episode is officially immediately after Darkest Hour parts i and ii for best eps of the season. THIS EPISODE. JUST. GWEN. the best Gwen. SO LOGICAL AND REASONABLE. I remember in S1 watching her and wishing she'd get development because she was seriously the most normal/sane out of everyone in their crazy ot4. I would soooo watch a Gwen the ( Read more... )

I loved this ep too, insanely so. And I even loved Gwen, which is so weird b/c I normally hate her)) But she reminded me so much of the sweet, awkward yet smart Gwen from season 1. WHY can't the authors of this series just leave her be or give her her own personal development? But nooo, she has to have this stupid relationship with Arthur, which makes her look bad and dull, and has no chemistry at all!

I was actually sort of shipping Arthur and Gwen a bit! For once they were coming across as equals than just playing pretend behind the grown ups' backs. Eps like this make me wonder for what could have been if they had taken time for Gwen and Arthur to fall for each other ( ... )

I'm sorry, I meant no offence by saying I hated her. You see, I didn't hate her at first. I was maybe a little indifferent, but that's just b/c I always pay more attention to boys at first and girls have to grow on me. But then they forced this Arthur/Gwen thing on us! And she began to really annoy me. It's just as you say: no development, just spurts. Right now Gwen is defined by her pseudo-wise words to Arthur (but notice that when Gwen says stuff like "You'll make a great king", Arthur's like: well, yeah, whatever; but when Merlin says it, he's like: You think so? Awesome!))))). I don't think Bradley enjoys playing these scenes with Gwen, that's why there's zero chemistry. She could be so great, but the writers completely ruined her(( That's not Queen Guinevere at all. But then, they really do it to everyone. Morgana is awesome, but she has fits of stupidity as well ( ... )

This ep was so, so delightful. I wish Merlin was that snarky all the time. I particularly loved the scene where he got angry when he saw that Gwen had already served Arthur his lunch and he came across as a jealous girlfriend. And Merlin being such a fail assassin was the best. I giggled like crazy every time that Gwen bonked him on the head.

At ontd_merlin they were calling it Sassy Merlin, like Sassy Gay Friend. I approve! The sad thing is when he wasn't slowly degrading into fail!evil, he really saved himself a lot of stress by not giving a shit.

I was laughing like loon when Merlin KNOCKED HIMSELF OUT. Oh Merlin. And then of course Gwen bonked him on the head again. She should do that more often to people, js.

Speaking of people Gwen should knock out, WHAT IS UP WITH AGRAVAINE'S FEELINGS FOR MORGANA. STOP IT WRITERS, YOU DID THIS TO UTHER AND THEN YOU MADE HIM HER FATHER. I DON'T TRUST YOU.

Ahahaha, oh god, Agravaine/Morgana. I don't even know what to think about those two. Part of me ships them purely because Agravaine is clearly her Uther stand-in, but in the way that she always wanted Uther to be: completely adoring of her and NO ONE ELSE. Doing everything purely for her sake and being at her mercy without him having the same effect (affect?) on her that Uther did. She doesn't care about Agravaine, she doesn't yearn for his acknowledgement and love, her emotions for him don't drive her to insanity. But he's so Uther-ish in his love/inappropriate lust for her that it is basically the skim milk version Uther/Morgana. But then I also sometimes suspect that Agravaine is under a mind control spell, or an obsession spell, or something, because it is just illogical that he supports Morgana and not the son of his own sister, unless he hated his sister. So maybe Agravaine is legit in love with Morgana and hellbent on destroying Arthur, or maybe he is just obsessed with Morgana and wants to give her what she wants, or... ( ... )
