"FUCK DELETING THE SCENE OF GWEN CRYING AND BEGGING MERLIN TO REMEMBER HER." What? That was S1.
But yeah, basically. The worst part is that I was actually semi-proud at Arthur for using his brains not just going all MASSACRE like Uther would have. And since I'm a total stan I'll just keep singsonging that it's all because Agravaine is rotting his brain from the inside but if he has in any way a similar reaction to Merlin's reveal then I don't think I can back him up anymore. But I actually liked how he was incredibly furious but tried to control it in their last scene and he apologized. And he did say to Merlin he thinks Gwen is a good person but it's not even fair to talk about the Gwen aspect of that scene because it was all about Merthur foreshadowing~.
You perfectly listed the only good parts, and I was too busy hating on how they cheapened out the entire Gwencelot romance to care about much else.
the preview last week had that scene. have they ever cobbled previous episodes in 10 second promos?
Arthur does not get points for not murdering people. And Agravaine rotting his brain is not a good excuse because Arthur DOES doubt him.
Oh God if he banishes Gwen and no return ON PAIN OF DEATH just for kissing someone she thought was dead and would never see again and it was like the SECOND day he was back? Oh god, I just want to grab Merlin and run NOW to spare him the rage Arthur is going to go at him with. He only held back from striking Gwen because she was a girl. He full out went at Lancelot with the intent to kill. If the writing would characterize it as him falling apart because of Uther, maybe i could scrounge up a half cup of sympathy, but nope.
the only point this episode gets is not hitting the rest button. BUT I WISH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD THEY HAD. ie in the sense that this episode LITERALLY NEVER HAPPENED. :(
O_O I've just rewatched and I don't see it. But FUUUUUUU if you're right.
LALALALALALA. Arthur is an enormous prat and his actions are NOT right but I'm still able to reason for my sanity. The main problem is that if they characterized him well and with a capable brain than he should have figured out Merlin has magic 3 years ago. And I think the main reason his character is butchered because they keep dumbing him down to prolong the tensions of Agravaine and Merlin's secret.
No this really shouldn't have. And to think we were actually ANTICIPATING Lancelot's comeback. D':
LALALALALALA. Arthur is an enormous prat and his actions are NOT right but I'm still able to reason for my sanity I CAN'T THO. I LOVE MERLIN SO MUCH AND ARTHUR IS JUST SO *LACKING*.
I am mostly just angry that the show made me watch my precious Lancelot die THREE TIMES. My heart can't take that nonsense. I am also angry that the Lancelot/Gwen romance was pretty much thrown out in favor of emphasizing Gwen's ~*~eternal love~*~ for that prat of a king named Arthur. Pfft. WHY CAN'T SHE WILLINGLY LOVE BOTH MEN? I don't get why she had to be under a spell. All he had to do was be his old sweet self and Gwen would have been naturally conflicted. But noooooooo, the show had to go and make it one of Morgana's tricks. DAMN IT, SHOW, HOW COULD YOU RUIN THE ONLY CANON LOVE STORY OF YOURS THAT I ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT? Auuuuugh. The show never made me believe in Gwen/Arthur, and this ep just made me despise the ship with a passion, and now they've really gone and killed Lancelot and I just don't know what to do with this show anymore. It kills everything that I love.
and the second time was all "welp, guess he stabbed himself off camera/yep" which lskdjf. and none of the knights were a BIT conflicted on whether or not to attend the funeral too, it was JUST merlin?
I do not understand the bracelet, or morgana needing to be controlling lancelot either! she could have just brought him back and dumped him outside camelot and he'd have eventually wandered there and then his loyalty to arthur wouldn't have been a lie either. it took ALL my enjoyment out of lancelot and gwen's scenes because while gwen's feelings MIGHT have been a bit real, lancelot's wasn't at all! santiago's face and eyes weren't adoring the way they always were when he saw gwen and it RUINED everything.
i now despise arthur/gwen with the passion of a thousand suns. it will never be all right.
i want merlin to run away because if this is how he acts to gwen and lancelot i don't think i will be able to stand how harshly arthur will break merlin's heart when he finds out about merlin's magic :(
