Still no word on the job. Think this week it's time to send that follow up sort of email. I'm hoping he GOT the resume/cover letter, as I never got acknowledgement.

So, I know this is sort of bragging, but I am so proud I'm just bursting a bit. Toby read The Hobbit this weekend. Correction- Toby read The Hobbit yesterday. And as far as I can ( Read more... )

So glad he has new friends! You were so sad when his bestie moved away last year.

I am glad, too! He's finally connecting with some other kids, and they seem very nice. :) Plus he's been making Cub Scout friends.

I have shamefully gotten addicted to Candy Crush! I try to hide it though :)

That's so great about Toby's friends!

I stopped watching Revolution after the first long hiatus. I told a friend "When Charlie and Bass start frakking, let me know, and I'll watch again." Not that I want them to, but if they did, it would at least be interesting.

I kind of assume that Miles and Bas are bitter exes, to be honest. I don't think the show is going there, but it's about the only way it makes sense :)

Ticket to Ride sounds interesting for my grandkids. Do you have a recommendation for which game to start with? They are a (very bright) 6 year old, and a twelve year old. I'd love to see the 12 year old playing something besides video games.

I would definitely start with the US version. You guys live in the US, so the geography and names might be a little more familiar to the six year old (Portland is actually one of the cities on the map!), so there's that. But the US version is a little easier- Europe, which is the other stand-alone version- has tunnels, ferries, and mountain passes. They aren't hard, but starting with basics makes it a little easier for the six year old. The US and the Europe versions are stand-alones, and then there are two types of expansion sets you can get. One type is either the 1910 expansion for the US or the 1912 expansion for Europe- these are just new cards with new routes to do. The other type is like Asia or Africa, where you get a board and tickets, but you don't get some of the other parts you use. So I would definitely start with the US game here. (It is also much cheaper on Amazon than in Target, at least around here ( ... )
