Ran 18 miles. Am dead. It's a little depressing because I wish I could run it faster, but at the same time, I keep remembering what afrakaday told me- spring marathons aren't for time.

Trying to work out my schedule for 50K training, for sure, that incorporates the marathons I'm doing. I'm mainly concerned about the long runs- the other stuff is easy to work with or I know how to juggle. The training plan I'm following would put the long runs like this:

March 9- 14 miles (I'm a little ahead in the training plan.)
March 16- 16 miles
March 23- 18 miles
March 30- 20 miles
April 6- 16 miles
April 13- 22 miles
April 20- 16 miles
April 27- 24 miles
May 3- 16 miles
May 10- 26 miles
May 17- controlled 13 miles
May 24- controlled 10K race
June 1- 8 miles
June 7- 50K

Those long runs also all have a good hour the day after. I'm thinking what it's going to happen is this (assume 1 hour the day after, unless otherwise noted):

March 9- 18 miles
March 16- 10 miles, with 12 miles the next day (crazy weekend)
March 23- 20 miles
March 30- 16 miles
April 6- Hot Chocolate 15K
April 12- Garden Spot Marathon (run at a training/LSD pace- NOT RACED.)
April 20- 16 miles
April 27- 24 miles?
May 3- 12 miles
May 11- Delaware Marathon (run somewhat faster than LSD, maybe 11:30s. Not all out, but not as easy a pace as I'm planning for the Garden Spot.)
May 17- 12 miles (must fit into Friday or Monday as it is a camping weekend)
May 24- 12 miles
June 1- 8 miles
June 7- 50K

Add in the hill work, strength work, easy runs (4-5 miles), and mid-runs (8-10 miles) midweek. The week before and after each marathon I plan on taking it really easy- no strength, no hills, long run goes down to 4-5 miles, short runs down to 3. I think this should be okay, but it's the 50K I worry about, mainly because I've never done one. Of course, my 50K goal can be summed up as "finish", so I'm not too worried about time or anything, but still. Does this look reasonable? For those of you know know distance running, what should I be doing that weekend of April 27? (It might also partly depend on what kind of time we have that weekend.) Again, these are all followed up the next day with a five mile run, so I've got the back-to-back thing going on as well. Or at least a tough hour long workout (I've been doing a lot of elliptical/bike work. But I made it through my 18 slower than I'd like but with juice left in the tank, so I guess it's doing fine.)

That said, I definitely feel crazy, and look forward to the summer where I won't have so many crazy long runs. Partly because of the heat, but also Howard's bike schedule gets more active in the summer. And by then I will also start job hunting in earnest.

Also been having fun with the bsg_epics Multiship War. I've only written four fics so far, but I am quite convinced that I've won the war because I've gotten so many people to write Gaeta/Hoshi :) That said, if I owe you a pairing, please let me know, because I've lost count of which ones I did and didn't do. I do need to do my own Gaeta/Hoshi, but not sure what I want to do. I also am out of ideas for other pairings, so if anyone has any brilliant, situational-type prompts, let me know. I've done Gaeta/Narcho, Bill/Saul, Lee/Laura, Wallace Gray/Tom Zarek, and Dee/Ellen. The one pairing that was requested and I swear to God is unwriteable as a pairing is Laura/Hoshi. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make that one work. They have nothing in common, I can't really imagine them being attracted to each other, and all I can ever think of getting them to do is sit there and stare at each other in awkward silence until one of them suggests they play cards instead and the other accepts in utter relief. Even having a conversation between them is hard. I don't know what it is, but I've been prompted that pairing before and I just cannot make it work. Unless... hmmm. Wait....

Anyway, hope everyone is having a good day, and I have to go write now. I think I figured out how to do this....
