I get that there's only so much money to go around for education, but they never get the spread of it right. They don't bother asking the people in the trenches day after day (as in parents and teachers) what things are helping the most students, or most helping students who desperately need help.
There is enough money in this country that we should NOT have a problem educating our kids, and paying people at least an adequate wage to do it. Education can change SO many things, and we just don't bother. As a country.
I'm going away now, because I just...yeah. I'm going away now.
HUGS for getting your run in. I know it's important to keep at that, particularly for the goals you have in mind.
My school has someone assigned to each grade level to pull kids in small groups -- this was new this year, and it's been fabulous. Of course, now the school district says they have to cut positions because of budget issues, so we are losing a few of them. *steams* It's a bunch of bull. Last year we lost our newcomer position (she worked with kids who had been in the country for three years or less). We are constantly pressured to get "results" and yet every resource that could help us is being systematically taken away.
