Dear Crossovering Writer:
Hi. Thanks for agreeing to write for me, and I really, really look forward to seeing what you come up with! Sorry my prompt list was no real help, but hopefully this letter will be a lot more useful. I adore crossovers and fusions, and I love the fact that you can come up with some pretty creative ideas.
General stuff:
First of all, the sign-up sheet was a bit frustrating to me, because frankly, if you can figure out how to cross something on my list over, I'm completely cool with it. I just randomly removed and added fandoms so I didn't put in three bucket lists. So any set of crossovers of my chosen fandoms is fair game. (These are mainly the fandoms I'm into- I'm not into some of the biggies like Supernatural or Sherlock or Dr. Who.) Anyway. Any crossover of any of these fandoms is fine with me.
Crossovers vs. fusions- Honestly, I'm never quite sure of the difference. If you can make it work, I am happy.
Things in general that I LOVE:
-Gen/friendship fics
-Mentor relationships, especially across canons.
-Plot, adventures, quests, problems
-Humor
-Angst (I have an extremely wide range, and have no triggers. Non-con handled well is fine with me.)
-I don't mind romance at all, and generally canon romances are a pretty good bet for me.
Things I'm not so much into:
-Not a huge sex/kink person. I'm totally fine with fade to black or with vanilla sex, but I'm not terribly into porn.
-Explicit descriptions of gore. Killing a character off doesn't bother me, but I watch a lot of Game of Thrones through my fingers.
-I'm not much into polyamory- I generally prefer characters either paired or just skipping the romance altogether.
-The only two things I really can't handle: sympathetic characters cheating, and violence towards children on screen. (An abusive childhood for an adult character I can handle, watching a kid be hurt or a school shooting is not a good thing for me.) Thanks :)
Fandoms
So, I little about how I feel about the fandoms I picked. I know optional details are optional, but it at least helps a little, I hope? :)
Fandom: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
My quick general thoughts: This is a show I'm into on the surface but have never really read fic for. I'm not a big MCU person and REALLY don't know what's going on a lot (I have yet to see CA:TWS, if that gives you an idea), but I've really enjoyed the show, especially since the Hydra reveal.
My favorite characters/pairings: Fitz, Simmons, and Trip are my favorites, but I can probably read about anyone.
Characters or pairings I REALLY can't stand: Not a huge fan of Ward, although he's gotten more interesting since being revealed to be evil. (He's at least doing something, you know?)
My Favorite Arcs or plot developments: I love this rogue agents on the run thing.
Thoughts on crossovers: As I said above, I definitely love the rogue agents on the run thing, and that could easily leap off into a crossover. I also like the idea of these characters working with characters from another canon in their capacity, especially something like Avatar or Harry Potter.
Prompt Ideas:
Avatar: the Last Airbender- it would be a blast seeing how the S.H.I.E.L.D. people would deal with benders. Also, I would kind of love to see Aang take down Ward. :) Or an interaction between Melinda and Toph.
Battlestar Galactica: Could they somehow end up being Roslin's Secret Service types? :) I'd love something where S.H.I.E.L.D. was based on the Colonies, and the cast members somehow ended up in the Fleet. There are all kinds of places that could take off- someone from the BSG show being a hero, there being no superheroes left and the Shield crowd having to readjust, somehow dealing with the Cylons, Baltar and Gaeta dealing with Fitz and Simmons... Definitely lots of fun places.
Dollhouse: This is one that seems fairly obvious to crossover, I think. The two worlds can mesh pretty easily.
Fringe: Again, this crosses over very easily, especially if S.H.I.E.L.D is in the red universe. But super secret organization meets super secret organization with vaguely similar goals = awesome.
Firefly: I'm guessing S.H.I.E.L.D. would have to have something to do with River. Either they would be after her for their own reasons, looking to pin down the Alliance group who took River and undermine them, or involved with the Alliance group and hunting for River themselves. Any of these would be awesome, especially if Fitz or Simmons knew Simon from high school and/or college.
Glee: This one is a little tougher for me. I'm totally open to the idea that one or more of the Glee kids could discover that they're superheroes, or perhaps that one or more of them could want to join S.H.I.E.L.D., and they'd get a mentor. As a note, I only watched the first three seasons, and would be most into seeing one of the original kids over the newer ones. Also, Sue Sylvester being an agent totally makes sense.
Harry Potter: S.H.I.E.L.D. meets the magical world. Again, I think there's a lot to be done there. :)
Hunger Games: Fusion-like story, maybe, where S.H.I.E.L.D. members live in District 13 and help plan the war? (It would also make sense that they live in the Capitol, or that Ward is a Capitol mole.) If you do go this route, could you please please please please make Melinda May a Victor? Because she absolutely would work in that role.
West Wing: The U.S. government and a secret organization. This one writes itself.
Fandom: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Quick General Thoughts: Love the story telling here, and I do admit that the world makes things harder. But I think you can take the kids out and put them in any world?
My favorite characters/pairings: I love them all, but I especially love Iroh and Toph. I tend to be pretty gen for this, but I do handle Katara/Aang just fine, especially with the developments in Korra, which makes their story so much more interesting. (And I LOVE their kids. LOVE THEM.) And while I love Zuko/Mai, I have no qualms about them being broken up, because Zuko needs to learn his lessons the hard way and he's been a pretty lousy boyfriend to Mai. (I do love Mai.) Sokka/Suki is my preferred Sokka pairing (not to into Sokka/Toph at all), but again, I don't really care too much.
Characters or pairings I REALLY can't stand: Meh, I'd be happy of Ozai didn't really feature, but otherwise, I'm good.
My Favorite Arcs or plot developments: The whole thing? :) I do love family relationships and found family, and I adored the second and third seasons, especially the assault on Boiling Rock.
Thoughts on crossovers: A:tLA is hard to cross over with some of these, because I think it can be hard to cross two world-building canons over easily. I'm definitely game for them being in their world or in another canon's world- I feel like their powers influence their personalities, but the world itself... not as much.
Prompts: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.- See above
Battlestar Galactica- I have a very hard time envisioning how to do this on a large scale, but I can definitely imagine some smaller interactions, maybe where just a character or two is focused on. The first one that comes to mind is that I can't tell you how dearly I would love a crossover with Tom Zarek and Jet, because they are SO SIMILAR. Iroh interacting with anyone would be great- I can see where he'd be able to have interesting conversations with a lot of different people from the Fleet. I would love something with Iroh, a former general in another war (maybe the Tauron War or the First Cylon War?) coming into this new war. So yeah, while I have a hard time imagining, say, the Galactica landing on the planet that Avatar takes place on (although if you can do that, more power to you and I would LOVE to read it!), this might be a crossover to focus on character interactions?
Dollhouse- Dollhouse is one of those canons that I personally think can take place on any planet. Plus, you have the Fire Nation, bent on dominance, and the Dai Li, which is pretty much the Dollhouse already, right? Aang and his group finding out about that would be... that would definitely be fun. I'd rather keep the sex aspect of the Dollhouse thing out of this particular canon- I really don't want to read about one of the kids being forced to sleep with people- but definitely modifying minds to do other things would fit perfectly.
Firefly- River is basically an Airbender, right? :) It might be interesting if that's how bending comes about, from Alliance tampering. I'm not completely sure how to do this, but I am totally open to anything.
Fringe- So, Olivia underwent trials as a child for them to give her superpowers, right? What there were some more adjusted survivors in her group? Or what if she met some other kids, younger, who had gone through similar trials, but the trials were more successful? For some reason, the idea of Olivia and Katara meeting and forming a friendship really, really appeals to me.
Glee- Never read Solar Winds, don't really have a huge desire to due to the extreme length. My main interest in a Glee/A:tLA crossover would be seeing the Glee kids interact with the A:tLA kids. Really, what I could envision is something like The Headband, where the Glee kids are average citizens that Aang et al. come across in their travels.
Harry Potter- Harry Potter and A:tLA are alike in that while I think the powers help define the characters, the actual world doesn't, at least not quite as much. And Harry and Aang certainly have a lot in common. Like A:tLA/BSG, I could see this being a more "character crossover" than a world crossover. Dumbledore would certainly fit in with the White Lotus (or Snape and Sirius being in the White Lotus could be FUN.) Any of the kids, magic somehow being a part of the A:tLA world... I think there are a million things you could do.
Hunger Games- Hmmm. Now this is a challenge. One thing I notice I have not suggested is give any of the other characters bending powers. Maybe something like that? Or maybe the Fire Nation has a Hunger Games going? I am open to any suggestion, but at a bit of a loss as to how to proceed.
The West Wing- I can't really envision the Avatar kids existing in West Wing's Earth, but I can definitely envision the West Wing staff being members of a government in that world. Jed Bartlett, the next Earth King?
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Quick General Thoughts: Ah, the fandom of my heart. Richard Hatch described BSG as a bunch of good people who had somehow lost their way, and that was what I loved so passionately about it. So complicated and everyone is shades of gray. And for the record, I am not attached to any of the Cylons being Cylons, especially the Final Five.
My favorite characters/pairings: Dee and Gaeta are my all-time favorites. Gaeta/Hoshi is my OTP, and I'd dearly love it if that can somehow be worked in, even if it's just clear they're paired in the background. I love reading/writing about all the secondary characters, I love the resistances, I love all the main characters, I love the Pegasus, and I love Bill Adama pre-Season 4.5. Canon pairings are mostly awesome, I consider it near-canon that Gaeta and Baltar slept together at some point and it blew up in their faces (or at least Felix's), and Kara and Felix hating each other on a petty level at first and then more deeply later is my hateship OTP. (But I do love Kara.) Also, I love Tom Zarek. I think he really is an idealist who has this grand vision of how society should be... but is willing to do ANYTHING to get to that ends, no matter how horrible. But I think Tom has a very directed violence about him. Your average citizen has nothing to fear from Tom. His political rival does. (I just really don't like seeing Tom blackhatted. He's not a great person and if I knew him for real I probably would not like him much, but I love him as a character.)
Characters or pairings I REALLY can't stand: I really prefer Kara and Lee in their sibling dynamic. I hate Gage and Vireem. (I do find Cain's character fascinating, though.)
My Favorite Arcs or plot developments: Pegasus, New Caprica, any time the word "resistance" comes up, Kobol, Final Five Cylons.... And I'd love to see some women live. :) (Like Dee.)
Thoughts on crossovers: The biggest general thought I have is... I have no- absolutely no- attachment to the Final Five being the Final Five. And there is Daniel running around. So crossover canon characters being Cylons = AWESOME. I watched and loved Caprica, so anything from that timeframe is awesome, too. I also love taking another canon and putting it into BSG fusion-style. And finally, I am utterly not attached to season 4.5, and love the idea of Galactica finding Earth in any other timeframe, or finding a planet other than Earth if that's the way to do it.
Prompt Ideas:
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.- see above
Avatar: the Last Airbender- see above
Dollhouse: I have actually done this, in a fic called
Agency. What is interesting about BSG/Dollhouse is that BSG is the ONE canon I can think of where the Dollhouse technology can almost be justified, in the right circumstances. I mean, Laura Roslin isn't going to be making people into dolls to have sex with other people- the Dollhouse tech could be genuinely used to save lives. But does that make it right? To be honest, since I have already crossed these two over, I'm not sure where to go from there. The technology being available on Caprica would be interesting. Maybe Laura Roslin being revealed to be a doll being controlled by someone in the former government (maybe even Adar?) could be interesting. Ditto Tom Zarek. Helo and Paul Ballard might be played by the same guy, but they definitely are not the same person. But them being twins could be fun. The Dollhouse people being in the Fleet and going a different way than I went could be fun. I think there's definitely a lot of room here... I just already used my personal best ideas. But I'm eager to see what you could come up with.
Firefly. The Galactica is looking for Earth. Firefly is based around Earth-that-was. You could also see Serenity in the miniseries. Seriously, again, this writes itself, and Firefly/BSG crossovers are my very favorite. I do love the idea of Simon and Gaeta being friends (I also love the idea of them perhaps meeting earlier, becoming friends, and then Simon is the one who has to take Gaeta's leg), and Simon-Cottle fic would be AMAZING. There's SO much you can do here, and really, aside from please no Mal/Kara romance as the main story, I am so open here. (I don't mind the pairing, but I'd just really like the focus on something else.)
Fringe- Walter is totally a Cylon and was friends or competition with the Tighs back on Earth, right? (And if Bell is a Cylon as well, and maybe Nina or Broyles or Peter, I am all over that. Also, in this context, I kind of like the idea of Walter/Bell, especially if they divorced at some point, or went their separate ways over the Sig. Seven, or if Cavil programmed them more successfully to be angry with each other than he could the Tighs.) Also, I'd love to see some Olivia-Laura friendship. (Olivia as Laura's body guard would be AMAZING), and Felix, Dee, and Astrid could totally bond. But the one thing I can't get out of my head that Walter Bishop is some sort of Cylon. (OOOOH!!!!!!!!!! Maybe Walter is one of the Final Five, and Peter is the one Daniel he managed to save!) If you can't tell, this seems to work in my head.
Glee- Another one I've already done. In my mind, there are two ways this kind of fic can work: the glee kids (or a kid) were on the ships when the Cylons attacked, and are now a fairly normal person in the Fleet, or the Galactica found present day Earth during Revelations. A lot of the relationships I've wanted to explore I've done, but I wouldn't mind seeing others. (And if someone wants to write Blaine, Ander's Son, the final Cylon, I would LOVE it.) I also love, love, love the idea of Gaeta and Hoshi teaching at Dalton, and would love to see how they settle into our world, especially since they would meet prejudice that most of their other coworkers would not, and that they hadn't experienced before.
Harry Potter- The BSG/Harry Potter fics I've seen work seem to again focus on small groups. Sirius is really Jake. (Although this story is definitely out there, but I would read a million more.) Tonks on the Galactica. The Galactica finding Earth and someone figuring out they're a wizard. (I wrote a drabble once where Tom Zarek was the one who figured out he was a Wizard, and was in the Order with Sirius and Snape. I'd LOVE to see that idea expanded.) Hera being a witch and going to Hogwarts. Wizards hidden on the Colonies, and maybe someone in the Fleet is a wizard. (Preferably not any of the main characters for this one, but Tigh as a drunk wizard would be a hoot, and any of the secondary characters would work great for this.)
Hunger Games. Okay, this one's the challenge and I hope these aren't the only two fandoms we matched on, because I've yet to see a Hunger Games/BSG crossover that worked for me. The characters in BSG are all too old to be in the Games, and I can't envision them landing in Panem. But if you take the Hunger Games characters out of Panem, they change so drastically. And I can't really envision the Hunger Games taking place on the Colonies. The closest I can come is maybe Sagittaron has them? And although they don't talk about it, Tom and Dee are both Victors, and maybe he was her mentor? I really do not know how to do this one, and again, it might have to be a "take a few characters and put them into another world" thing. In that case, either the Tom-Dee scenario, or maybe taking a younger character (Dee, Billy, Felix) and putting them into Panem with an older mentor? I could see Laura-Billy, maybe, or Tigh-Felix, or... I don't know. This is the one that does hurt my head a little.
The West Wing. What I would love most of all is a crossover where Adar was a lame duck president, and Jed Bartlett had already been elected. He was interviewing/looking around for a military advisor and was touring the Pegasus with his staff when the Cylons hit. So Bartlett et al on the Pegasus, and then how they would deal with finding the Fleet again would be my absolute dream. (I don't think he'd handle it the same as Cain, and I think Jed would have some major issues with some things Cain did. So how would Jed being present on the Pegasus change some things about that arc?) Or when the Galactica finds Earth, Bartlett is President of the USA. That would be awesome, too. This crossover also has one of my favorite crossover pairings- I would love, love, love to see Charlie/Dee happen.
Fandom: Dollhouse
Quick General Thoughts: A series with a lot of promise and some really fucked up characters. Topher was a triumph- all the things Whedon knows make his characters popular crammed into one of the most despicable humans I've ever come across. I love to read about/watch Topher, but I would never, ever want to meet him.
My Favorite Characters/Pairings: Topher, Topher/Bennet, Mellie/November, Victor, and Sierra. I loved Paul/Mellie at the beginning and hated where that went. Caroline wasn't all that interesting, but not all that awful, either. Adelle was interesting. I ended up hating Paul by the end.
Characters/pairings I REALLY can't stand: Caroline/Paul, Echo/Paul, whatever
My Favorite Arcs or Plot Developments: I really liked Victor/Sierra as a plot, and I really enjoyed the glimpses of the dystopian future where this was headed.
Crossover Thoughts: Dollhouse is one where the tech crossing over is probably the most interesting thing. Characters are okay, but tech... yes. That's really what I want.
Prompt Ideas:
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.- see above
Avatar: the Last Airbender- see above
Battlestar Galactica- see above
Firefly- There's no huge question here. The Dollhouse is Alliance. Is it really that different than what had been done to River? But there's probably also a much more generalized branch, maybe that's not not fully aware of what the government is doing? I could definitely see Mal et al discovering the Dollhouse and treating it essentially like Miranda. I think Inara would be particularly outraged, given the Companion system, and it might be interesting to explore that idea, especially since she voted for Unification. I could also see being a Dollhouse employee being Book's backstory, and maybe something with that?
Fringe- I'm definitely seeing a "Dollhouse is the villains" theme going here, because Olivia would probably be ready to torch the place. But I think you have a few interesting opportunities- that tank Olivia was in certainly seems like some precursor tech, no? Nina, Walter, and Bell could have all been in on Dollhouse tech development. Broyles would have made an excellent handler in his early days, before he worked up or left. And of all the characters, I could definitely see Astrid as an Active, and I'd love to see Olivia want to rescue her from that (and succeed!)
Glee- the obvious route is someone from the Glee Club (or many someones) are Actives, and I'm all for this, although again, I'd prefer not in a sexual situation for underage characters. A less obvious route would be that Blaine is in on the tech, and the Warblers all Actives that he made. :) If someone is an Active, I'd love it to be someone besides Kurt or in addition to Kurt, just because I'm kind of Kurt-as-the-main-charactered out. Quinn would make a lot of sense, to forget Beth, (and also because it would explain her personality swings), but really, anyone.
Harry Potter- Topher practices the Dark Arts, right? This is one I'm not sure how it would work out, because of magic, but I am very versitile and open. But like I said about A:tLA, I really would prefer not to see any of the students made into Actives for sexual use as children, please.
Hunger Games- Oh, we KNOW the Capitol has this technology, right???? And what would Coin do with it? I can definitely see adding that threat in, and maybe some characters that are dolls. While Effie seems like the obvious choice, it would be more interesting if it was someone else, like Cinna or one of the Victors, or the District 1, 2, or 4 kids. But the Capitol has the Dollhouse technology- Suzanne Collins just didn't mention it because of copyright issues.
The West Wing- I think the most interesting way to go here would be a staff member- and probably Jed- being an Active, maybe with Mrs. Landingham being his handler. Oh, yes! Maybe Mrs. Landingham was meant to be a Dollhouse employee, but has since used her position as Jed's handler to influence him in ways that are quite contrary to the Dollhouse's interests. I'd definitely love a Mrs. Landingham as a handler gone rogue story. And sadly, I suspect that ends with Mrs. Landingham's death only looking like a car accident, but really being something else.
Fandom: Firefly
Quick General Thoughts: Love them all, one of my favorites, so much fun :)
My Favorite Characters/Pairings: No one had better split up Zoe and Wash, although I can live with his canon death.
Characters/Pairings I REALLY can't stand: Please no River/anyone, but especially no River/Simon.
My favorite Arcs or Plot Developments: I always rather preferred anything but River. The River story is probably the least interesting to me. However, it does also make logical crossovers at times, so that statement sort of gets amended. I don't dislike the story. But I love the "rescue the captain AGAIN" thing the show had going on.
Crossover thoughts: I really do love the whole crew, and for the most part, they work best as an ensemble. I also find it's harder to take them out of the world, although not impossible.
Prompt ideas:
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.- see above
Avatar: the Last Airbender- see above
Battlestar Galactica- see above
Dollhouse- see above
Fringe- Walter was definitely in on Miranda, although he feels guilty about it. That would completely and utterly fit. Perfectly. I could see the Fringe crew helping the Serenity crew with that, no problem. Especially if Serenity took them on as passengers at some point. (Also, the Astrid-Kaylee (or Astrid/Kaylee) would be ADORABLE.)
Glee- Some of the Glee kids are passengers on the run? This seems like a job for Puck and Lauren, where they could get wrapped up in something else. Just please, not Kurt going through the same thing as River.
Harry Potter- Someone's a wizard, and probably not a Tam. Jayne the wizard could actually be really entertaining, but Kaylee the witch makes total sense. Or maybe they both are, and didn't realize it. A wizard from the HP books sending themselves through time and hooking up with Serenity would be fun, too.
Hunger Games- Again, this one's tough. But I could see a planet doing this- they have slavery, and some of the planets had some nasty setups. Again, I could see a crew member as a former Victor. Possibly a Tam (that would make sense as to why Simon had to run, although they wouldn't be from a central planet then, but if he took his Victor sister and ran), or possibly Jayne, Zoe, or Wash. Or Book as a former Capitol type, possibly even a former Gamesmaker.
West Wing- I'm thinking you'd have to do some sort of fusion where Jed et al. govern a planet. I'm kind of thinking what might make sense is if they are in charge of a near-border planet, and when Mal finds out about Miranda and comes looking for help, Jed is the first one who believes him.
Fandom: Fringe
Quick General Thoughts: I cannot remember a lot of plot elements from Fringe, but I loved the characters. Olivia and Astrid are my favorites, with Walter and Peter (yes, I like Peter) right behind then. I love Charlie and Lincoln Lee, and really pretty much everyone. Their different universes thing might make crossovers easy, and I love the other universe people. But I am totally looking for characters over worldbuilding with Fringe.
Favorite characters/pairings: Olivia, Astrid, Walter
Characters/pairings I REALLY can't stand: can't remember any.
Favorite Arcs or Plot Developments: Walter's guilt, the Cortex trials, the Red Universe.
Crossover thoughts: As I said earlier, character over worldbuilding, for sure. These characters travel well.
Prompt Ideas:
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.- see above
Avatar: the Last Airbender- see above
Battlestar Galactica- see above
Dollhouse- see above
Firefly- see above
Glee.- Monster of the week! Some horrendous thing is attacking the Glee club, and the Fringe crew needs to figure out what it is! This one works out quite easily, really.
Harry Potter- I could definitely see the crew somehow getting involved with the wizards. (I think a fic where Walter and Arthur Weasley meet could be HYSTERICAL.) They would definitely be a good liason between the wizarding world and the Muggle World. I could even see someone being a wizard/witch, with Astrid actually being the top candidate for that.
Hunger Games- We've got some Victors here. Walter is a former Victor from District 3. Olivia is definitely a Victor. Walter had to mentor Astrid at some point. They have all found their way to District 13 somehow? Maybe? (Sorry. I am starting to get a little tired.)
West Wing- I'd love to see Broyles dealing with the West Wing. (Also, the West Wing is in Season 11 in the Red Universe. Which could be really entertaining in itself, if the West Wing was real in ours.) But there are definitely some political overlaps, and watching Toby have to deal with Walter could be comedy gold.
Fandom: Glee
Quick General Thoughts: I watched the first three seasons with some of the fourth. I really like the early years, when the show was funny, before it got too after-school specially. Shooting Star was what made me leave- please, please, please, nothing with a school shooting. I like the kids as an ensemble and found family, and they travel well.
Favorite Characters/Pairings: Like everyone, I do like Kurt a lot, but I am a bit fatigued with him being #1 in fics. I LOVE the Hudson-Hummel family, though, and miss them. I actually liked the idea of Finn, but with Cory dead, that does make things difficult for people. I like Quinn, Puck, love Lauren, Mike.... really, the old crew. I don't really ship Kurt/Blaine, but I don't hate them, either. They're cute, but Burt/Carole is my OTP.
Characters/Pairings I REALLY can't stand: Don't mind if Will doesn't show up at all. Don't care much about pairings in general, and if it all stays gen, that's fine with me. Not at all a fan of Kurt/Karofsky.
Plot developments I liked: The Hudson-Hummel family was why I ficced Glee. They are my favorites. My feelings largely follow fandoms, just to a less intense extent.
Crossover Thoughts: This is another characters-not-world fandom, and I think almost every idea I have puts them in another world. It's their relationships that are interesting, their world is just ours.
Prompt ideas:
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.- see above
Avatar: the Last Airbender- see above
Battlestar Galactica- see above
Dollhouse- see above
Firefly- see above
Fringe- see above
Harry Potter- One or more of the Glee kids are wizards is the obvious setup for a reason, and I'd love that. I'd love even more that Burt or Carole had been in the original Order of the Phoenix or around during Voldemort and high-tailed it out of England because they're not dumb. I'd be up for seeing some less-expected character interactions, and preferably no romance. I think there's a lot of room to play here, and it would be fun.
Hunger Games- This is one of the few canons where putting the kids into the Games makes total sense, because their age is right. Of course, I've done that. I'd kind of like to see maybe one or two of the kids as Tributes in a District where we know the victors. Maybe Finnick and Mags mentored Puck, or Cashmere mentored Quinn, or Chaff mentored Lauren. But I'd also love to see something that explores the world without going into the Games. How about Rachel, with her voice, being in an outlying district and wanting to be a singer? Or even in the Capitol and she wants to be a singer, and the Games are the path to fame? (something like Rachel working for Caesar or Kurt working for Cinna would be great.) Or the desire to get out of the mines, or the factories, and into the merchant class? How does it feel to teach, and watch some of your students go off to the Games? Because the Glee kids are teenagers, there's definitely some fun stuff to do here.
West Wing: Burt was a Senator, right? :) It might be fun to see how the West Wing staff dealt with him, and how that all worked out. Congress cutting funding to the Arts and the Glee kids getting involved (big block of cheese day?) would be great.
Fandom: Harry Potter
Quick Thoughts: My first real fandom, at least that I ficced for. I love the kids, but never ficced or read much fic about them because their story was on the page. My interest was always the MWPP generation. I still feel that way, but crossovers make me more interested in the main characters, because it's a new story.
My favorite characters/pairings: LOVE the MWPP crowd, and completely ship Sirius/Remus, in all its messed up glory. Dumbledore is useful for crossovers. I love Harry, Ron, and Hermione, as well as Luna, Ginny, and Neville. Not a die-hard shipper of anything and was perfectly happy with how the epilogue came out. Love the Weasleys.
Characters/pairings I REALLY can't stand: I have next to no interest in Draco, and really can't stand Harry/Draco. Not a fan of Harry/Hermione. Death Eaters aren't all that interesting to me, except for Peter Pettigrew.
Favorite Arcs and Plot Developments I actually loved Sirius's death, although I passionately love fix-it fic for it. I really just enjoyed the story in general.
Crossover Thoughts Again, these characters travel well, especially since magic is involved. I'm not as attached to the world, but hey, neither are they :)
Prompt Ideas:
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.- see above
Avatar: the Last Airbender- see above
Battlestar Galactica:- see above
Dollhouse- see above
Firefly- see above
Fringe- see above
Glee- see above
Hunger Games- Oh, now THIS is tricky. Because magic. Maybe Voldemort won, and he set up a Hunger Games? I'm really not sure. Or maybe one character somehow ends up in the Hunger Games world and gets to District 13. (Maybe Sirius falls out of the veil there?) Because I could definitely see that working. Again, I do think this has to be on a smaller level, because the worlds don't mesh so well. But I am open to almost anything!
West Wing- I would pay good money to see Toby Ziegler teach Muggle Studies :) I'd also love to see how Jed's administration would deal if they were in power when they were alerted to the presence of wizards. (And if it turned out someone- like Charlie, maybe- was a wizard all along, even better!)
Fandom: The Hunger Games
Quick General Thoughts: I really enjoy the darkness and morality questions of this series, even if the world building is super shaky. I actually like the latter two books, even if I think the first book is the strongest.
Favorite Characters/pairings Katniss, Haymitch, Johanna, Prim, Rue and Thresh, Mags, Finnick... I like a lot of them. I like Gale, but am not passionate about him (but Gale in the New caprican Resistance would be AWESOME), and I'm fine with the pairings as is in the story.
Pairings/Characters I REALLY can't stand: The Hunger Games is a not-pairing centric thing for me. I'm not a fan of Snow or Coin, and I don't have a huge interest in the Gamesmakers in general. Not a fan of Haymitch/Effie at all.
Favorite Arcs and Plot Developments: I was really interested in the rising revolution and how that was being staged. District 13's survival was quite interesting as well. I also found the reality of being a Victor and how terrible that is fascinating.
Crossover thoughts These characters do not leave their canon well, because their whole lives are so shaped by the Games. I have a hard time figuring out what you'd do with them in another canon, because they wouldn't be the same people without the Games.
Prompt Ideas:
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.- see above
Avatar: the Last Airbender- see above
Battlestar Galactica- see above
Dollhouse- see above
Firefly- see above
Fringe- see above
Glee- see above
Harry Potter- see above
West Wing- Jed's administration governs a district that is in uprising, probably 8. That's really the only way I can personally see to do this, but if you've got a different idea, go for it!
Fandom: The West Wing
Quick General Thoughts: Love the characters, did not volunteer to write this because I suck at politics. Toby is my favorite, but I really do love them all. Again, interaction and relationships are definitely key, and I can't imagine them not in a political setting. But there's government everywhere, so.... :)
Favorite Characters/Pairings: love them all, especially Toby. CJ/Danny was my OTP with Abby/Jed in #2, and I'm lukewarm on Donna/Josh. (Frankly, I think Donna deserves better, but I like it well enough.)
Pairings/Characters I REALLY can't stand: none
Favorite arcs or plot developments: Loved Lord John. I don't remember a lot of the arcs off the top of my head, unfortunately. But I enjoyed the earlier seasons more than the later ones.
Crossover thoughts: Again, can't really see this crew out of government, but there's a government in every canon, so it works well.
Prompt Ideas All above.
Whew! That was huge. I'm imagining you didn't read it all, but I hope it was helpful. I know optional details are optional and all that, and I'm pretty easy to please as long as it's not focused on sex, so if you come up with a brilliant idea I didn't even come close to mentioning, I'm probably game. If you really feel like you need to ask, feel free- I'll keep anon commenting on. Thanks again for writing for me, and I cant wait to see what you come up with!
