So it was an exhausting weekend. The funeral went as well as these things can go, so I was glad about that. Hubby shortly thereafter mentioned a nasty rash he was suffering from, and we weren't sure if it was poison ivy or shingles. Either seemed probable- he'd done gardening as therapy, so that would be the PI, and he has had shingles once ( Read more... )

The George Washington University Cancer Institute! We have a team of runners in the 10k and marathon, I believe. I'll eventually find out specifics on where our table will be and will let you know!

CONGRATS on completing the 50K! So inspiring to hear how strong you felt on the hills and in your core. 85 degrees is still miserable race weather (HSHK last June was up there) so I am doubly awed that you kept it up.

I would love if you ran Philly this fall! I just signed up this week.

Your ranking list is great. I find it difficult to separate out the objective factors of what make a race well-organized from the subjective aspect of what make my race personally good or bad (weather, training, mindset, other physical factors). Like, Pittsburgh was a really nice race, but the heat made it miserable. It's also so hard to compare tiny races like HSHK to mammoth races like Paris or NYC.

Hope you have a fantastic recovery from your excellent effort!

Thanks! It was definitely fun (and hot, thank God for shade!), but I'm not in a hurry to do this one again.

I am seriously considering Philly. It would be fun :)

And it is hard to separate the objective and subjective. Especially since I know people who hate one kind or the other- big city vs. small. I like them both, I think, as long as I'm geared inot the right frame of mind :)

How many races will that make for 2014? Wow, you just amaze me more and more. Congrats on your new PR for distance! I hope the run took away some of the stress from the funeral and such at home, too.

When do your kids finish school?

Thanks!

This makes... 5 races for 2014, I think? Plus I have 2-3 more in the fall. Racing is what keeps me going out running, so it's definitely a good thing.

My kids finish June 18. They actually aren't super excited, because they know it's a summer of driving each other nuts :P But hopefully it will all work out. Are your kids officially done?

I'm glad the funeral went okay (as these things go) but sorry about the poison ivy.

Thanks. The PI seems to be clearing up at least, and yeah- funerals are funerals :P But at least no one else died (a valid concern), so that's a win, I guess?
