Time flies. I was never active as a kid. Not active now. But I'm a very active on the go high energy person. That's enough. I walk everywhere and use yoga to ground me and slow me down. To run would take my high energy and send it into overdrive and burn me out.
You're so good at getting to know your kids. You'll figure it out. Maybe he'll like hiking. And then you can draw what you saw on your hike. :-)

Martial arts are expensive and require a three day a week commitment.I would shop around for this, if you want to pursue it. Our martial arts place isn't any worse, pricewise - and possibly better - than other "class" activities (dance, gymnastics, etc), although I don't know how it compares to the costs for a team sport. Also, at our place, classes for kids (and adults) are held every evening, and the basic tuition allows you to come a maximum of 3x/week, but you aren't tied into any particular schedule, nor do you HAVE to go three times a week. This week you want to go on Mon and Wed? Go ahead. Have too much homework next Wed and need to go on Thurs? Go ahead. Anyway, I know our place is special in that they really treat you like family, but it's possible other martial arts places offer more flexibility and different prices. So, it might be worthwhile to ask around and see what else is offered. A good place ( ... )
