What is Small Gifts? Since I only write BSG, so far it's been impossible for me to participate in most exchanges, because they require me to offer at least three fandoms. I keep looking for something else small that could be fun.
It's a Remus/Sirius exchange. I forget what the minimum length on the gifts are, but it's meant to be very low-pressure. It's a single fandom (and on top of that, single pairing) exchange, so it might not be much help to you, but if you like Remus/Sirius from Harry Potter, it's a good HP exchange to get involved with.
If you're looking for something else, a lot of people do do Yuletide, btw. It's tiny fandoms or random books/movies whatever, and it can be a lot of fun to try out a new fandom without having to feel like you're making any sort of commitement.
I am definitely starting to feel old, too, and Tumblr drives me nuts. I hate that fandom has migrated there. It moves too fast and people don't talk in complete sentences, and the focus is all on social justice. Which, don't get me wrong, I think social justice is a great, great, great thing. But fandom is relaxation for me, and a lot of stuff people post they thing is so progressive, and it's either a.) flat out WRONG, or b.) just very... young. So I'm right there grumbling :)
Having shared interests is definitely fun! I can't wait until I can give Toby the Hunger Games. (Right now it's pretty strictly forbidden until he's a bit older, especially since he and his friends tend to act out books they've read on the playground.)
