You know, I like some rap, but I feel like Rap as a genre eliminates a lot of the artistic aspect that defines music, because there is little use of vocal skills( I was trying to say singing, but I don't know how to explain it). Therefore, I feel that a rap artist needs to make up for it with the lyrics and if the lyrics aren't original or the message is generic I don't feel like it is quality. However, if the lyrics are there, and the message is strong then there certainly is something to appreciate in Rap.

Well music is defined by many different things. Because rap artists don't sing, doesn't mean it's not music. What about classical music? There are no words in classical music. I can totally understand where you're coming from when it comes to lyrics. But at the same time, it's still music. People dance to music. People dance to some rap music. Just something to think about. Give me a call soon.
