She'd always had secrets. Always. For so long now that it seemed impossible to speak of them. She waited for Adam to see what she saw, to realise that she was more than she said, but he never did. She watched the others to see if they knew it, but their faces showed nothing. They would be afraid, if they knew. She was afraid.
She stood in the clearing and waited. She knew they would come for her, they were heroes inside. And what was she? What was she really?
She stood in the clearing and practiced what she would say when she saw them.
"You came here to save me from a murderer, a killer." she said aloud to herself. "What if the murderer is me? Who do you save then?"
She turned at the sound of footsteps behind her, the team stepping into the clearing. Shalimar stepped forwards, her arms open. "Honey, we are more than good enough to save you from yourself." she smiled.
With tears in her eyes, Emma fell into that embrace. "Save me."
