Character Information
Name: Axel
Canon Origin/Series: Kingdom Hearts
School Year: 7
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Out of school living location: Axel lives in central Glasgow with his mother.
Blood status: Halfblood, but was raised by a single witch parent.

Personality: To put it lightly, Axel is a dick. He’s the kid who used to set fire to ants with a magnifying glass, except instead of a magnifying glass he used magical exploding powder and instead of ants it was his neighbour’s cat.

Axel primarily looks out for number one. He always has a hidden agenda, and will often only maintain relationships because there’s something in it for him. He has a very good understanding of emotions and is more intelligent than he lets on, and because of this, Axel is an expert at reading people. He is almost constantly analysing behaviour of those around him, and makes mental notes of how people work out of habit. Even though he might come across friendly to someone, he knows what exactly makes them tick, and he knows which buttons to push to make them tick the way he wants them to. He is very arrogant because of it, and plays up how overconfident he is for the sake of making people smile or underestimate him. Axel has few qualms about manipulating the people and events around him for his own ends.

Outwardly, Axel is laid-back and self accepting, and can take losing something in his stride, not overly fussed if a plan he plotted out didn’t execute quite the way he had planned, and will often just adapt to the situation and work around it. Axel can also be quite immature when he wants to be and will put up fronts or do things that annoy people or made them uncomfortable because watching people squirm gives him endless amusement. He is incredibly selfish and lacks morality, often only doing things because there is something in it for him or he can use it as a favour later on.
However, below all these fronts and plans, Axel does actually have a heart. He legitimately cares about his close group of friends, even if he shows it by poking fun of them, and would even risk his own life for one of them. Roxas was the first real friend he had, and he is legitimately surprised by how much he cares for the kid, and how fond he is of him. Axel can also be a complete dork too. It entirely depends on the people he surrounds himself with.
Axel has a tendency to become unorganised and make rash, stupid decisions when something he cares about is under threat, and will go to extreme lengths to protect the thing he cares about. He can have a nasty temper on him under these situations.

Canon Background: Axel was created from the shell of the human Lea, who became absorbed by darkness and turned into a Heartless. The red haired Nobody was quickly brought into Organization XIII, a society of Nobodies who sought out Kingdom Hearts, to regain what they had lost so as to become whole again. Although he was the Eighth member to join, he quickly gained the trust of the Superior, Xemnas (whom he regards to be the only member of the Organization who is stronger than him). When Xemnas found Roxas in Twilight Town, and tried to convince the Nobody to join their ranks - to which Roxas refused - Axel followed him around Twilight Town, watching him as he displayed jealousy for the normal kids that wandered the streets, and took him under his wing, convincing him to come up to the clock tower for ice-cream. He then managed to get Roxas to join the Organization, making it Organization XIII.

Axel soon became somewhat of a babysitter to Roxas, and was with him for a lot of his first few missions in the Organization. Roxas acted pretty much like a zombie, and it was hard to get any reaction out of him at first, till he started to shape his own personality. But Axel persisted, and soon the pair became close friends. As this was going on, Vexen was ordered to make a puppet, using some of the residual memories from Roxas and his somebody Sora and Xion came into existence. The other members were told that she was a new member, and to be treated thusly.

Shortly after Xion’s arrival to the Organization, Axel was sent to Castle Oblivion to keep an eye on Marluxia and Larxene, and the other members that were already there. Saïx informed him about a rumour that there was a plot to overthrow the Organization, using the Keybearer Sora, and sent Axel to deal with the traitors. Axel pretended to side with them whilst manipulating the events in Castle Oblivion to ensure their downfall. He assassinated a fellow member, Vexen when ordered to ‘get rid of the traitor’, to gain the trust of Larxene and Marluxia, and did so mercifully, as it appeared that Vexen may give Sora some information about Roxas. He also helped Sora throughout his progression through the Castle, and also released Naminé so that she could tell Sora that she had been manipulating his memories. When it was revealed that Axel was indeed a double agent, he confronted Marluxia, saying that he always follows orders and will ‘get rid of the traitor’. Even though Marluxia used Naminé as a shield, the only thing that stopped Axel from attacking him was Sora intervening. Shortly after this, he returned to The World that Never Was, both Marluxia and Larxene having been taken out by the Keybearer.

Once he was back in The World that Never Was, Axel discovered that Roxas had replaced him with the company of Xion. At first he was jealous (or as much as he could be, being a Nobody), and wasn’t sure what to think of Xion but Roxas persuaded them to spend time together and the duo soon became a trio. Not long after this, Axel discovered the truth about Xion, Xemnas’ plans for her, and the fact that she wanted to leave the organization, but did nothing about it-at least not till Roxas found out and stopped talking to him and then left the Organization to look for Xion who had run away under Axel’s watch. Distraught by his decision, Axel attempted to reason with him, which didn’t work. Axel was then ordered to drag Xion back to the Organization, and he has to do this several times before her eventual demise, which not only meant that she disappeared into darkness, but the memory of her disappeared too. Axel has no memory of the 14th Organization member. After Xion’s death, Roxas goes missing.

Because of the way Roxas made him feel like he had a heart when he spent time around him, Axel willingly lied to him when he asked questions about where he had come from, selfishly keep Roxas around him more. This inevitably lead to Roxas betraying the Organization, and leaving to find out where he had come from. Roxas was then imprisoned in DiZ’s virtual Twilight Town, Xemnas ordered Axel to retrieve the other Nobody or kill him. Failure would result Axel getting turned into a Dusk. Axel managed to get inside the program and attempted to remove Roxas from it by force because the blond Nobody had no recollection of Axel, or his life in the Organization. Axel tried several times, without success and although Axel threatened to kill Roxas if he didn’t come with him, he never actually did so. Eventually, Roxas rejoined Sora, and Axel gave up his efforts in Twilight Town. However, he did not give up on Roxas. Wanting to get him back from Sora, Axel kidnapped Kairi - going behind the Organization’s back, in attempt to lure Sora to him and turn him into a Heartless, but he lost her to Saïx who took her to the Organization.

By this point, Axel was acting on his own, without the Organization controlling him - making himself a traitor to the cause he had been fighting for. The Nobody had realised at this point, that even if the Organization did find a way to get their hearts back, it would be pointless if he didn’t have Roxas to share it with. In his brief encounters with Sora, he noticed that the Keybearer made him feel the same way as Roxas did. He eventually abandoned his plan of separating Sora and Roxas, and decided to help Sora get into the World That Never Was. During a fight against countless Nobodies, Axel sacrificed himself in an attack that ‘had his entire being’ put into it, causing him to start fading away. As he lay there dying, he apologised to Sora - feeling some form of regret for kidnapping Kairi - because he wanted to see Roxas, and told Sora that he was the only one that Axel ever liked. He then used the last of his strength to open a portal for Sora to go rescue Kairi, and faded into the darkness.

Background (AU!Canon; HP): Killer. Axel was born in central London, to a single parent. His mother, a witch, had had, in a moment of emotional fragility, a fling with a muggle. Axel never knew who his father was, but according to what little his mother had to go on, he was an American, and wasn’t that great after the beer goggles had come off.
Axel was raised as if he were a pure blood. His mother resented the impurity of his blood however, and wasn’t very attentive, much rather leaving him to his own exploits and get on with her own work for the Ministry. Axel had a lonely childhood, wrapped up in the wizarding world where you didn’t know very many wizarding children was hard. But he managed, and ended up becoming a very self-centred, selfish, and arrogant young man. It was obvious that he was going to end up with magical abilities, after one particularly bad night where he’d argued with his mother and accidentally set the couch on fire.
By the time Axel was nine, his mother had had enough of the Ministry, and moved them up all the way up the country, to Glasgow. Axel was never sure why exactly this move suddenly happened, but thinks now his mother was involved with some shady sides of the Ministry and was at risk of being discovered. It was best not to ask. The move however was one of the best things that could’ve happened to him. To stay undercover, his mother moved them to a muggle community, and suddenly Axel had to adjust quickly to get used to the muggle way of life. It was in this community that he met Roxas, the first real friend he’d ever made. The kid was presumably a muggle, and when Axel told his mother about him, she forbade him from seeing the other child. Axel, the brat that he was, ignored her completely, and not only did he continue to see Roxas, but he also told Roxas everything he knew about the wizarding world. Roxas of course, thought he was making up stories, which Axel found sort of endearing, but primarily teased him for being ‘such a muggle’.
His secret friendship almost ended when Axel received his letter at the age of eleven. He’d scoffed to Roxas and Roxas’ parents that he was going to a special school just for people like him. He was sad to leave Roxas, but with the excitement of Hogwarts, it was easy to overlook.
In his first year, Axel made a lot of pure blood friends, and enjoyed being back in the Wizarding world immensely. He got to go to his first Quidditch match, and decided that he wanted to become a beater someday since it looked really fun. Axel excelled at charms class when he was bothered enough to actually do his work, and though he was in detention a lot more of the time than actually in classes, he thoroughly enjoyed it. He didn’t make the most amiable of friends, most of them preying on mudbloods for a quick laugh and almost forgot about his own little world back in Glasgow.
When he finished his first year, he rekindled his friendship with Roxas, and told him all about his adventures at Hogwarts. It was then that he realised how much he’d missed having the little guy around, and they spent practically the whole summer together, with Axel sneaking Roxas into his house to show him all his school stuff, and Roxas showing Axel where he’d found the best ice-cream place this year.
When Roxas received his own letter, Axel couldn’t be smugger that all his stories were right. Axel told Roxas that he absolutely had to get into his house, since that was where all the cool wizards were, and helped Roxas along with the process of getting all his stuff for school.
During Axel’s second year at Hogwarts, his pure blood friends began to question his motives for hanging out with a halfblood. It wasn’t until Axel confessed that he himself, was a halfblood, and that they should piss off that they stopped poking fun at Roxas. Only Axel was allowed to poke fun at Roxas. That was his job as Roxas’ best friend.
It wasn’t long into the year that Axel met Xion, a childhood friend of Roxas. At first he was jealous-Roxas was his--but he soon got over his animosity and the duo soon became a trio. And this is how it continued throughout Axel’s stay in Hogwarts, with a lot more adventures and escapades to shake the sorting hat at. Queen.

How would your character fit in to each House?
Gryffindor: Axel would not make a good Gryffindor. This is because of all his underlying schemes to get the world to work for him. Outwardly, he can sometimes be chivalrous but it’s usually when he wants something. There is always an ulterior motive. When it comes down to it, he’s not a coward though. He will fight for what he believes in, and wont often back down.

Hufflepuff: Fair play is something Axel almost never does. He loves to cheat, and loves to get away with it to, and if he can cheat the system, he will. He’s only loyal to very select people, (one or two) and has no qualms with manipulating his friends to get what he wants. He often only acts loyal because something is in it for him. Axel is very tolerant, even though he doesn’t seem it, and can put up with a lot before snapping. And hard work, again, is something he only does if something is in it for him.

Ravenclaw: Axel is full of wit and extremely intelligent. He uses these to his advantages, but often plays down his intelligence a fair amount. It always surprises people when he gets high marks one some of his coursework when he actually bothers to do it. He’s quick at learning new things, especially when it comes to fire-based charms, but he’s not very creative at all.

Slytherin: Axel has cunning pouring out of the wazoo. He manipulates, he pretty much fucks people over left and right, but he does it all without the target often knowing before it’s too late. And he enjoys it too. He’s extremely resourceful, and is quick to adapt to situations if they suddenly change, and he has ambition when he wants something. He would probably make an okay leader, however, he would be better suited to taking orders, with intent to overthrow said leadership in the end. Again, always with the manipulation and self-preservation.

Sample Journal Entry:
Maaan, is it good to be back. One more day in that huge ass house woulda driven me crazy. So hey all you knew fresh mea-I mean first years. Heh. I’m Axel. If you want to know which of the toilets aren’t haunted and which wont try and eat you, come to me. Unless you wanna risk it and get a ghost between the legs or take a trip through Hogwarts plumbing. Your choice.

Also Roxas, we’re overdue for some Quidditch practise, so get your ass out on the field so I can attack you with a bat all morning. Xion you can come watch.

Also Larxene, stay the fuck away from my stuff, unless you want a repeat of last year. I’m not playing nice no more, sweetheart. Got it memorized?

Sample Interaction Post in Third Person:
Axel had been going through Roxas’ trunk to try and find a book he’d leant him when he’d found it. Nestled between spare robes and a whole box of those ice lolly sticks he collected (which was probably going to start becoming a problem. That kid ate way too much ice-cream to be normal, and Axel was convinced he was going to get diabetes and die) was an obviously muggle magazine. There was a smiling boy on the front with spectacularly quaffed hair and painfully white teeth surrounded by an obnoxious array of brightly coloured stars, speech bubbles, loaded with comments about how hot this kid was. Axel scoffed, and stopped looking for the book immediately, sitting down on Roxas’ bed and flipping through it.
“Why does he even have this?” he asked no-one, finding out the name of the kid splashed on the cover was Bustin’ Jieber. And apparently all muggle teenagers wanted in his pants so bad with the amounts of ‘handy tips to be a true Jieber Fever fan!’
Upon reflection, the magazine was probably Xion’s, since she was the teen girl, not Roxas, but that didn’t mean that he would ever let Roxas live this down. Ever.
Rolling up the magazine and shoving it into his back pocket, Axel smirked at himself, and jumped up off of the bed, shutting the trunk with a kick of his foot. He’d been wanting prime blackmail material on Roxas for ages.
“This is going to be so much fun. Heh.”
