That is the only suitable reaction I can now give it. I love it hard and long-time! :D

And AS YOU KNOW, Loz, it's not the length of anything that counts, is it? That's what she said etc

Loz, loz, loz... There appears to be much Russell Howard comomedy in the coming months - prep. work for his Edinburgh show - and this glinty wee thing caught my eye:

eDINBURGH WORK IN PROGRESS @ Outside the Box, Kingston
Kingston, London - 16th July 7pm

Now, does that, or does that not strike you as a tad... INTERESTING? :P

P.S. You've probably gone to bed now like the proper little human being and have left me talking to no one and looking like a demmed FOOL.

I am about to go to bed, but - because I am a bad creature - haven't yet. This is what I have to say: OOOOOOOOOH.

I mean, in theory it's possible you'll still be staying with me at that point, am I right? I see no reason why we shouldn't think about, you know... investigating. PERHAPS. MAYBE.

(Puppyyyyyyyy. I mean, OMG ALICE. SERIOUSLY.)

Wonderful, wonderful writing. You 'get' Bodie and Doyle just the way I like 'em, with everything going on underneath, all the emotion nuanced out, flicker by lovely flicker. In the first scene I love the little shifts and changes in atmosphere, all leading up to Bodie 'eavesdropping on his best nate's subconscious'. And I like that Doyle never talks about it, and that later Bodie never gets to finish his sentence. It's all just there - and becasue of that, the last moment in the waiting room has such a terrific canon feel to it.

I could pick out many lines and chunks that I loved, but this bit near the beginning is just *them* to the nth degree:

Bodie thought that what’s important after you’ve been lied to is probably the truth, and what the truth was, was that you fashioned these candyfloss, fairytale exteriors and pretended like everything was fine when you went to visit your boss in hospital, but the job chipped away and chipped away at them until you ended up here. Sat up in the middle of the night with the only person who ( ... )

Oh, this comment made me very happy indeed! Really, you have no idea. ;D

Originally I was going to make the final scenes more overtly slashy, but it just did not work, so I decided to keep it low-key. I'm really ever so glad I did!

Ah, thank you and, yes, I go to revise now. But I shall likely be back, as it really does keep me sane. XD

That's fantastic writing, that is. You got the lads and everything going on between them, unsaid but still known, down perfectly. Doyle definitely is the type to brood over such things while Bodie can look at them less seriously. And yet he understands his partner fully and tries to comfort him.

That part where Bodie got up and Doyle murmured his name in his sleep that was a moment so intimate it almost hurt. Probably Ray felt that Bodie was near? Their relationship certainly does go deep enough for that.

What more can I say - I enjoyed reading it and it gave me a warm feeling all around somehow despite the sadness in it.

Thank you so much for all your kind words, and I'm so so pleased that you liked it. Also, "Probably Ray felt that Bodie was near?" = that was sort of what I had in mind, yeah, so I'm glad it came across. :) I love all that working-in-unison stuff, being so tuned-in to each other that they don't even need to discuss things, finishing each other's sentences, aaaaall of that. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. XD

Beautiful - wonderfully low-key, understated and yet immensely real affection. It just happens that I have a personal especial love of fics that fit into or follow on from canon, and this is a great example of why!

Bodie and Doyle's relationship at it's best - Doyle being so high-maintenance and over-analytical, Bodie just soaking it up cos it's all he can do, but this is done gently and without thrashing the issue.

Thanks - loved it.

No, thank you, and I'm really pleased you enjoyed it. I love fics that fit in with canon, too, because sometimes things just don't sit right. Rogue was quite a serious episode, I felt, with serious issues, but the end was so *yaye everything is happy now* that it bugged me, which is why I wrote the thing. Also, I laughed at the phrase "high-maintenance" - that's EXACTLY what he is! Cheers again. XD

I love the way you've captured all the little nuances of the Bodie-Doyle relationship. Thank you for a most enjoyable story.
