above these clouds, these rains, these sleets of lead

I was planning to write a series of five Life on Mars fics this summer. It was going to be called Five Lives That Weren't, and work like this: if we're to accept that Sam was in a coma, why the seventies? Surely he could have woken up anywhere at all? I would have written five Sam Tylers in five alternate universes, but unfortunately, it didn't ( Read more... )

I... love you. And your wonderful brain that makes all good slash. My only complaint is that it should have been longer. By about... 8000 words. (FEED ME. FEED ME GAY.)

I've been reading LoM slash solidly since I've been back and it's totally not helping this attraction to Gene Hunt :(
I want to bum that man.

It's a long way to Tipperary! Good story.

(You might want to know that electric shock therapy wasn't introduced till 1940, so it wouldn't've been known during WWI. Of course you're mentioning it as something Sam is thinking about, so he could simply be mistaken.)

Thank you!

(No, it wasn't widely used until then - although it was used in some treatments of shell-shock during the First World War - but it was more a half-joke about Sam's state of mind than an actual historical reference. God, I phrased that badly, there, but I know what I mean. Cheers, though!)
