Thirty minutes to get to

the first ever lesson in Verdi's super expensive, been-wanting-this-forever, finally got Grandma to pay for it, summer music class series. No sign of Ami, who is driving.

I wonder where my checkbook is. I should take that along.

We arrived right on time. Verdi loved it and picked up the dances and the songs without trouble.

The instructor said that he was hyper and unattentive, literally running back and forth from wall to wall and only following half of her instructions. But he was not rebellious or mean-spirited, so she assumed the problem was that he just didn't know what was expected of him in his first peer situation. She thought it was good that I enrolled him so that he could learn to learn in a group, and she is happy to help him work on his social skills.

She uses the word listen rather than the word obey, like almost all New Yorkers do. I'm sure half the problem was that Verdi thought he was being told to be mindful of the sensory experience his ears were having, when he was actually being told to follow the instructions the teacher was giving to the class.
