Nashua, Smashua

The weirdest thing about living in Nashua (at least during a presidential campaign) is that you're always bumping into politicans. So far, through no fault of my own, I've run into Bill Richardson, Ron Paul (who, terrifyingly, has TONS of supporters around here), and last night, Fred "I'm An Actor" Thompson. Fred Thompson has the nicest signs, ( Read more... )

I envy you.
I'd love to ask the Democrats what the mean by "Universal Health Care" and then ask why we should trust a system administered by the companies that got us into this mess in the first place (are you listening anyone but Dennis Kucinich)?
I'd also like to ask the "separate but equal" crew why "Civil Unions" are acceptable for GLBTs, but not an acceptable alternative for black or Hispanics.

"Ron Paul (who, terrifyingly, has TONS of supporters around here)"

Just curious, but why "terrifyingly"? I've been reading a lot about Ron Paul lately and some people are crazy for him while others are crazy against him.
I personally like some of what he has to say but, in politics, things are never what they seem. Every other politician is doing exactly what I'd expect - toting party lines and feeding us the same-old same-old but he seems to buck the trend. Is there something particular that I should be aware of?

The fact that he's from Texas is enough to turn me off. There should be a Constitutional amendment that we can't have any more presidents from Texas. Five years of LBJ and eight years of GWB have me convinced that Texans are know-nothing war-mongers unfit to hold any office higher than general manager of a professional football team.

OK, fair enough, but I generally like a bit more to go on than that. I've been doing some further reading and can only say that it looks like Dr. Paul, as opposed to every other candidate, is very consistent. The implication is that he'll be more likely do what he says because that's his track record. So on that account I like him. Still reading though, but I'm actually getting more optimistic about him. Now just waiting for the gotcha.

He may be from Texas, but he's definitely NOT like the other good ol' boys...

Joe Biden was probably trolling for more speeches to plagiarize. Bah-da-bump! Thank you, I'll be here all the week.

Actually, just living in a state that has "Live Free Live Tax Free or DIE DIE DIE DIE" ...

Fixed that for you. How's the state's funding of education going these days? :-D

Ha ha ha ha! Tip your waitress.

The schools in general here aren't as good as Maine. We had to do the California thing and make sure we moved into a neighborhood with good schools--something I hate, but there you have it. I have reserved the right to send the girls to private school if need be, but I *think* the schools in this neighborhood are good. God knows the property taxes here (in Nashua) are high enough. We are talking hard-core property taxes, with no Prop. 13 cap. ;) They go up every year, and some years, they go up quite a bit.

Good to "see" you M. I was very surprised to read on your last post you moved from Maine.

Miss you and want to see a pic of those girls.
