Hopefully the driver was not the same person you had and that the incident wasn't part of their routine "entertainment". Given that the deep rut had to get there somehow, I suppose it is possible. That aside, it sounds like a marvelous experience. I'd love to duplicate it but I am not sure I am physically able given my difficulty walking. I doubt handicap access in a wheelchair or my sooter is much of a priority there.

No possibility that it was the same driver. The fatal accident occurred in another game reserve about 50 miles from ours, managed by a completely separate company. And there's no way such an incident could have been deliberately engineered as "entertainment". Mary and I were just stunned by the uncanny similarity between the two events.

The commercially run game reserves would not be easily accessible for a wheelchair user. But the website of the State-owned national park system SAN "has an excellent and inspirational summary of accommodation and trail accessibility for the mobility impaired at all its parks, and is the best website we have seen anywhere in terms of incorporating disabled access information throughout its pages." (That's a quote from the invaluable Lonely Planet guide.) We walked on some of the wheelchair-friendly nature trails in the National Parks, which are very impressively laid out.
