Did you see the article by Neil Bartlett on Simeon Solomon? I want to go to Birmingham and see the exhibit quite badly now.

Interesting article. You're close enough to Birmingham that you shouldn't have any trouble getting to see the exhibition.

My favourite artist of that ilk is Henry Scott Tuke.

I've seen some of Tuke's stuff. Yeah, a short trip to Birmingham is certainly in order. If anything, I can call it 'thesis research'.

Wasn't he also on record as believing that Latin Americans spoke Latin? But maybe that's just one of those urban legends, like the claim that Dubya said "The trouble with the French is that they have no word for entrepreneur." It never happened, but it should have!
