nice line up.

Life of PI I hear to much about...almost like a deeper form of Survivor the movie (Tom Hanks).

After Dachau sounds cool too. Right now I'm looking for another war book. I read Band of Brothers a while back...I want something like a narrative from the view of a soldier.

After Dachau wasn't what I would call a 'war book.' It's about a woman who is in an accident and when she comes out of her coma, she wakes up as someone else. I'll say no more, as I don't want to ruin it in case you read it. I love Daniel Quinn. Ishmael was great, but My Ishmael was even better, and After Dachau may have been my favorite of his yet.

Life of Pi didn't exactly make me believe in God (as the back cover claimed it would), but it was still an awesome book. Check it out!

My gosh, you read so much! I think it would take me 10 years and more to read all those book.
The last time I read a book was in March/April. It's called "Norwegian Wood" by Haruki Murakami. It's an excellent book! Maybe you can try that one out? I was so addicted to it that it took me only 5 days to finish it (which is a record for me) as it normally takes me a year (or more) to finish a book! LOL.

Books are like my only friends, seriously. Unfortunately during the year I don't have a lot of free time to read, so I have to make up for it now during the summer months! Perhaps I'll read Norwegian Wood next summer, if not sooner!

IIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSAAAAAAA!! (Had to do that.)

I'll read Stories of Eva Luna eventually, most likely. Allende is a little slow-moving for me (The Infinite Plan was awful), but she's passionate, and that's what I love about her books.

The Girl with a Pearl Earring was okay. It's about a girl who becomes a house maid to the Dutch painter, Vermeer. The story was anti-climactic. Like, at the end, I was frustrated and felt like I could have done a lot more with it. I would have made the girl and Vermeer have a passionate love affair (or at least make out once in the attic or something!) The only thing that kept me turning the pages was the hopes of something passionate about to come, but in the end this butcher dude just feels her up and that's the extent of it. LoL. I'd still give it a read, though, because there's a little more to it. It's got an old-fashioned feeling to it that's sweet and compelling ( ... )

Have you read any Angeles Mastretta? The only thing I've read by her was "Mal de Amores" ('lovesick'). Mastretta is brilliant in some of the phrasings and word choices, etc., she uses, but the middle of the book is one big soap opera. Worth reading, though!

(p.s. saw your journal on the anotherway comm., via someone who goes to simon's rock college, via a friend of a friend's.....funny how lj goes.)

It certainly was an exceptional book. I just learned not too long ago that it was a movie; I had no idea!

Any friend of books is a friend of mine, so I've added you.
