Wow, that's a big thing to have dropped on you right when he was leaving! Have you talked with him about it?

Yeah we've talked about it a little, I've known that his parents wouldnt really approve of or be crazy about us getting married - they're just old fashioned that way I guess but I didn't realize they might take it that seriously.

His parents are weird (to me at least) they've pushed him to do things their way all his life and while I think he likes most of it, like them pushing him to become a doctor (he left for med school) I just cant see living your life for someone else - thats our only issue, its hard for me to understand a lot of his family stuff just because American culture is so very different than Lebanese culture
