I'm not one for movies and tv really, but just from your description of it, it sounds a bit over the top. I mean...how can anyone make a movie about something that no one really knows when is going to happen?

Apparently it's based off of the Mayan calendar or something along those lines.

Whatever it is, it was a good movie. I really don't believe in the world coming to an end or anything of the sort, but it was entertaining.

Pfft. You want to base something off of another culture's calendar? A culture that no longer exists as well...what kind of sense does that make?

Don't ask me, I don't believe in that stuff.

I don't understand the appeal of a movie that portrays a false apocalypse. Why would someone want to make such a movie and why would so many people flock to see it? The whole concept that the world will end in 2012 is one that was blown completely out of proportion in any case. To make a movie that glorifies this false prophecy? I simply don't understand.

It's a story. Like a movie portraying the thought of aliens or monsters and such. It's simply a story, a script written to entertain. Simple as that.
